From 1970's EV encoded LPs to modern Super Audio CD/DVD-Audio discs, all aspects of Multichannel Sound are embraced here at QuadraphonicQuad. Our members are experts on vintage 1970's quadraphonic hardware and software, as well as passionate adopters of SA-CD and DVD-A. If something new comes along, we'll be there. So if you are interested in Multichannel Sound like us, you have found the right place.
As some of you may know, the Quadraphonic Preservation Society was started here by QQ members as a way to bind together and preserver the rare and out of print quad titles from the '70 on modern formats such as DTS CDs and DVD-Audio discs.
At it's inception, QpS was hosted here at QQ, however, it was a totally seperate entitly and had no real connection to QuadraphonicQuad with regards to membership, rules, terms, or any other condition of QpS membership.
As of this month, QpS will or has relocated to a new location on the internet where they will continue to do their best at converting and saving the rare titles from within their own members collections, or by purchasing rare titles on eBay or elsewhere.
For those interested in joining QpS, or for those QpS members who are looking for the old QpS section of QQ, please send all correspondence to
I just found some corrupted tables in the QQ Database. If you find that you are having trouble accessing the forum or forums, please shoot me a PM and detail the error message or problem you are having.
Remember when you pull out an SACD or DVD-A that you haven't played in a while and rediscover it, be sure to look up the poll for that title and post your vote and review. It helps those who may not have that title and are wondering about it.
There are many entries in just a few, or even no, postings or votes!
After noticing that Cai had not been around for a while, I discovered that he had in fact passed away on December 19th, 2008. It was a most shocking discovery.
The internet is a strange place. People take on personalities, make friends, enjoy communicating with people all over the world that they will never meet in their lifetime. We know a screen name, an Avatar, that's all. We don't really know what type of person we are chatting with, what their background or history is. Someone may make "internet friends" with people they may never give a second glance to in real life. I would not know Cai if he were seated next to me on an airline flight, or if I saw him on TV or in the newspaper. I really know nothing about him other than the fact that he was into quad, he just built his dream home, and worked in the IT field - and all of that was only from reading his postings here at QQ.
Yet, I am deeply saddened, shocked, and feeling a bit empty sitting here digesting the news that he will not be posting here anymore, his dream home and custom surround system will not bringing him happiness and joy in the coming years, he’s left us for good.
I did not always agree with Cai when it came to forum rules and stuff like that, I'm one to always let things slide, but I deferred to Cai on issues requiring moderation as he felt that it was important and we needed to keep things structured and organized.
I just upgraded the forum software today. Not sure exactly what you'll all see or what changes are "under the hood", but please let me know if something is not working correctly. There's always something that slips through the cracks when I upgrade this thing.
