Hi: Has anyone bought the Donovan title "Fairy Tale" either in DVD-A or Dualdisc? I can imagine the 5.1 mix is a Silverline travesty...but how are the overall sonics? I have not been able to find any comments on it in a search.

On 6-18-2006, Larry Geller said: "NONE of their British 1960s material (Donovan, Searchers, etc.), or their live Front Row stuff (10cc, etc.) have any stereo or mono track--only the worst fake surround ever."
One day later, Ed Bishop said "Silverline had some good discs, but Donovan, the Searchers and Foundations were not among them."

hey the music is good, but the surround is just reverb/echo. i believe that this was released in Mono originally.

This would have been a good release if tehy had stuck a hi rez stereo/mono track on the disc as well.

I have it now, it’s not really surround sound, but it does sound good. Nice mostly acoustic songs

I have it. Bought it b/c Mrs. Baggins likes Donovan from her childhood (she's named after one of his songs).
It sounds fine. Just no surround-wow.

Wow... there is a Donovan tune titled "Mrs. Baggins"? I never heard it.

;)

ta-ta-tum... I'm here all week folks...

I suppose for Donovan fans like myself , the BONUS TRACKS , are worth owning this disc .
it is from 1966 I believe so surround wise it's not great , and it's a typical Silverline 5 ch "tried and failed "release.
sonically not too bad overall , if you like Donovan , you may like this.
Was available on DVDA proper, as well as Dual DVDA.
