Emu 1820M and Audition 2.0 Help!!!

I've done lots of work with Sound Forge and Aardvark cards, etc. But my new setup with the 1820m and Audition 2.0 is kicking my but. I can't seem to arrange the patchbay correctely to record anything. Do any of you have any help or resources you could suggest to help me out? I either find info too general or too complex for what I want to do. TIA guys!!!

I got M-Audio firewire 1814.(Sadly)

First: I'm sure you've gone into the sound manager and selected
the device or some aspect of it for the computer audio.

While I found my M-audio device and the internal card
can co-exist with no clashes,only 1 can be selected
in the audio manager at a time.

Also,some programs ,you must also go to their set-up
and again direct that program to use that device.

I first made sure it ran stand alone (in/outs ) worked
exclusive of computer just using firewire for power,
then moved on to getting all aspects to function with computer.

That's where I learned not all promises of preformance,
at least with the M-Audio, can be achieved.
