Kenwood KR-8340 w/ KCD-2 no 4-channel sound

I picked up a KR-8340 today on CL, in nice shape, but am having some issues getting the rear channels to work.

As a source I am using a 16/44.1 rips of several quad LPs via my iPod through the Phono 2 / CD-4 input. This generally works on my KR-6140A.

I am pretty sure I have isolated the problem to the push button switch under the AM antenna on the back (2-channel / 4-channel selector button).
If I wiggle that a bit and get 4-channel response to work somewhat, but not steadily. Also, with FM radio, same result.

It looks like I need to tear it completely down to access the switch and/or its PCB? I tried a bit of De-Oxit on it, to no avail.

Would welcome any other suggestions or guidance.

Hi Bill,

Welcome. You have to make sure the DeOxit gets inside of the switch. Also, the switch legs could possibly be broken away from a PCB. You can see that after disassembly.
