Wow, thank you everyone, means a lot to me! I'm in a good place now, thanks to a stellar team and a clever strategy that has won this battle. Still have to have injections (ouch) for another 15 months, but the worst is definitely over. I'll spare you all the details however if anyone has questions, drop me a PM. Boy, I do have a backlog of concert reports to catch up on... HAPPY JULY 4th EVERYONE. :hi

Holy shit tim I just now saw this thread, been wonderin where ya been hiding. Thank god it sounds like they caught it early. That is one of the better ones, as if there is actually a better one to get. As long as it's caught early prognosis are usually pretty good these days. Please make absolutely sure you continue your follow ups regularly though!

Thanks, got a good team and they keep me in line. Ironically, headed to San Diego today to help an old friend get set up for upmixing before a couple days in the office, then home. Keeping a busy schedule, summer disappeared quick!

Tim nice to see you posting here again and for sure am super HAPPY that things are going in the right direction for you.
As others have said, you have added so much to this site and I have been the benefactor of some nice pm's from you besides the great posts you have done here.
I am not a huge facebook person but your pictures of your travel's this summer are totally AWESOME.
Besides a good ear you have a good eye for things.

Hey folks, I really appreciate all these kind comments! I've really been reflecting on how I spend my time as of late and what's important to me now (other than the day job which continues no matter what). Have realized some truths this past week. In no particular order:

I am not the oldest person here, there are people who have far more harsh health factors to work through. The prostate cancer is under control; I'm "responding to treatment" in their words. I'll take injections every 90 days for another year and then hopefully that's it. (sorry if TMI) Have been having a hip issue and a recent MRI revealed arthritis as a major component. I was disappointed there wasn't something obvious to fix by surgery. I've since decided to change how I look at my discomfort; the specialist who saw me must see people with incredible constant pain. When I complained about some difficult getting out of a car or certain chairs, tying my shoes, he said "but you don't do those things all day." Initially this remark kind of pissed me off, then later I realized he was right. The meds suggested have a downside so I have elected to not take them and adjust the way I look at it in the context of daily life. More walking and stretching is on order.

I want to properly chronicle my past and current musical adventures and it's not going to happen by itself. I digitized all of the reels, DATs, Beta Hi Fi and cassette tapes between 2004-2007. Prior to two weeks ago, this audio mining operation (band tunes and mountain of demos / improvisations) was maybe 5% complete. I have now deferred much of evening TV and put my head down and gone to work on this project. Some portion of it will get shared but I know that the majority of this effort is simply to distill all of this haystack down to something I can easily access and appreciate myself in later years.

Speaking of haystack, I have simply accumulated far more music than I can ever fully appreciate. I've stopped adding much beyond the major releases. Because there are sources for legacy quad and such, it's very tempting to take in as much as possible. Being a rock kid of the 1970s, I have most of the titles I was after. I found that the excitement of the hunt and acquisition process was taking me well beyond my original scope. It's good to expand the scope of what you listen but when you find you're running out of hard drive space and buying blank discs more often, it's time for a re-think. What is truly important here? Keep the good finds and dump the schlock you know you'll never listen to or appreciate.

I've been updating the Facebook QQ page with a new item every week or so, getting back in the swing. I'm grateful to everyone who keeps the main QQ spirit going; I'm putting the turn signal on to rejoin the community as of now. :smokin
