i will post back and add more here once the shock's sunk in but seriously i think this may well be DV's strongest set of releases yet! (y)

Chase's "Pure Music", Billy Paul's "War Of The Gods" and Weather Report's "Tale Spinnin'" are easily some of the absolute best Quad mixes I've ever heard, truly exceptional surround sound all of them.

Wow.

Now lets be honest for a minute folks...some voiced their concern about not having enough notice for this music...I can't imagine anyone not liking this way....you see the titles and have the ability to purchase them NOW...not 6 months or a year from now...personally I'm sick of all the cloak and dagger and release date delays... MoFi and AP just drag their feet on this stuff...and here is a small company which doesn't have half of the resources available to them and they are killing the "big boys" in almost every imaginable measurement(y)

Since I don't own any of the vintage Quad equipment and have never heard these titles....it's hard for me to relate to those that have heard them the original way and now get this modern approach...it must be a true revelation to hear them because to me they sound so impressive...

you're a lucky man! you're gonna get to hear these out and out surround beauties for the first time in all their pristine master tape glory!

no old Quad gear, no software decoding process or Surround Master, no turntable, no record cleaning, no eight track deck, no tape repair, no hassle, etc etc etc.. required!!

"thanks... for saving my life..
for picking me up,
dusting me off,
making me feel like i'm living again"

:LB

Have you ever heard the George Benson Quad?

yes, i DL'd a conversion years ago, the music didn't grab me that much at the time but the mix was excellent.
i'm hoping my musical tastes will have sufficiently matured in the interim..
and if not at least I know the surround sound will be stellar :phones

Some notes:
  • Tale Spinnin' is seriously rare on Q8! I don't think I've seen one for sale in a very long time.
  • The Chase S/T mix was created basically to demo the SQ matrix system - the trumpets jumping from speaker to speaker in the first track is a sort of informal test tone. This is a really wild mix!
  • I've recently heard both Billy Paul's from Q8 and they are really unbelievable mixes. The title track "War Of The Gods" has to be heard to be believed!
  • The Billy Paul titles are the first PIR quads to be released on SACD since Sony did Ship Ahoy & 3+3! Does this mean Dutton could be mining other titles from that series, such as some seriously coveted O'Jays, Isleys, and Harold Melvin quads?
  • Looks like Dutton is looking to finish the CTI series...I'm willing to bet we'll see the rest of those titles in future batches. I'm paticularly excited for when he tackles Don Sebesky's Giant Box, that's a real fun one
Man, I'm so excited I just want to like scream this out to the world right now!!!!! This is an unbelievable batch of titles!!!!!

....All titles ordered of course :)
