I have a Pioneer elite SC-97 but have owned many past SC iterations and a lot (don't know when it started) have what is called a "Digital Filter" built in (and can be controlled by the mighty iControlAV5 app).

This Digital Filter offers three settings under "Audio Scaler" (with apparently no way to disable all of them): SLOW, SHARP, SHORT. I am generally against ANY filters but there seems no way to disable these. You can disable Hi-bit 32 and Up Sampling just not the Digital Filter.

I find these Digital Filters have one of the greatest impacts on output of virtually any of the settings in the iControlAV app. IOW, I have to constantly adjust these three filters to match each content to MY preference.

Just throwing this out there in case anyone has a modern Pioneer receiver and didn't know about it.
