For your consideration...

Some years back I got a qx949 very reasonably and didn't use it.
Recently I decided why have it if not to use, so I redid one of my viewing areas and incorporated it.
I became aware long ago that the suffix A version was the pro logic option.
I followed ebay and picked up 2 qx949a sq logic boards one about $35 and the other about $20.
Karma website had the manuals for both units. I was dismayed how much work pioneer went to to make
significant differences in circuit designs, however as it turned out the board dropped in
and hooked up rather easily.
Problems: had to shoehorn it in the same space as old board.
Gains: I have prologic in a qx949
Loses: mode switch lacks one extra leaf so qs mode not as accurate as circuit was designed, alas "machs nichts"

With the second board I retrofited it into my qx646. A very tight fit, UL would not approve the qx949 mod, but the 646
they probably would condemn.

I hate to see all the classic units people are parting out on ebay, but "if we can save just one more quad unit it's all worth it!"
QC

ps sorry no pixs I assembled not taking any pics.
