Sounds like a serious contender for the now discontinued OPPO UHD 205. Separate power supplies for analogue and digital is a nice touch. And Dolby Vision is a must [although ALL 4K Projectors do NOT support it, ironically]. With further discounting, I'm sure a lot of potential purchasers will find it attractive.

Will anxiously await the reviews!

Thanks for sharing.

I wonder how much involvement Pioneer had in this unit...if any at all...they have tarnished their once coveted Elite line with rebadged machines built by other companies...and I see Onkyo prominently displayed in the literature and on the fact sheet on the bottom of the page...in fact Onkyo's name is first....HERE

Believe it or not, Clint, I have an older Onkyo Receiver in my bedroom which doesn't even pass 3D and 4K* but it has served me well. Last night [actually early AM] I was blasting the 'Native' UHD 4K version of Across the Universe through my 5.1 B&W system and it really sounded incredible. Before that, I was blasting Pineapple Thief's BD~A of Dissolution with equally marvelous results. I could easily afford a Denon or Marantz Dolby Atmos Receiver with all the latest bells and whistles but until my trusty Onkyo takes its last gasping breath, I'm happy with my ONKYO. And this from me, a stickler for pricey separate components [never was a receiver lover]!

Hopefully, a review of the Pioneer will be published soon and it would be prudent if the reviewer had an OPPO UHD 205 on hand for direct comparison but perhaps that's expecting too much......but it would be an ideal comparison.

According to Wiki...Onkyo owns Pioneer since 2015

A HA!

I do agree the Pioneer Elite moniker doesn't have the cache it once had. Same with the SONY no baloney higher end equipment. It's all been watered down until it's a ghost [for wont of a better word] of it's former self. Which made the OPPO somewhat special. It will be interesting to see how this new Pioneer 'stacks up' against the mighty OPPO but as I did post about the OPPO [especially the 205] it's what you don't see [the interior design] which made EVERY OPPO better than its predecessors [meaning the 105, 95, etc].
