No corned beef or alcohol here, but I got to run a 5k "for fun" and we had a nice bonfire with some traditional Irish music in the evening.
I hope everybody had a happy day!
There was a St. Patrick's night in the pub last night, and they were selling a charity ale, so all proceeds to charity, so I helped to raise quite a lot .......well it certainly feels like it! Overnight we've had about 2"-3" of snow, and its the Grizzly Race today (along pebbled beaches, up cliffs, through bogs etc. http://www.axevalleyrunners.org.uk/grizzly/). They've come from all over Europe to run, and they are still running it , though only the CUB 10km not the full 20km.
See if they've a copy of Carry On...Up the Khyber on the Base, a crazy film - with kilts!

First St. Patricks day celebration in US was in, wait for it..........Not Boston, Not NY, but St. Augustine , in my home state of Florida in 1601 if I remember the correct date.

Erin go bragh! (a day late)
My Mother's side came from Ireland in about early 1700's, (but my Grandmother was Cherokee) and on my Dad's side we're French by way of some time shipbuilding in merry old England (1400's) on the way to America, with a little Polynesian thrown in. (according to my cousin's investigations over the years and DNA)
Irish ancestors settled in Georgia, French ancestors settled in Virginia then Georgia.
Hope you enjoyed my personal history. lol, delivered as best I know it.

Pupster ,

The Celtic Harp and Another Country are both Dolby Surround . I'll be sure to play them today.

As well as this" Irish Rover stomper " from the Pogues Live In Paris( DOLBY DIGITAL 5.1).

Happy St. Paddy's !!!

It's not just St. Patrick's Day it's also...
Jack Burton, er, Snake Plissken, um, Kurt Russell's Birthday! Whee! I see Kurt is almost 6 months older than me, today at 70 years old.

I read the thread bump last night & it's got me thinking what do special. My wife & I will make some kinda stuffed cabbage tonight. Like 4-ears I have some Bailey's but sometimes that's just a bit thick. If the weather improves I might make a quick jaunt out for some Jameson. And I have never seen The Commitments movie. Tonight just might be perfect for me. It's either that or Boondock Saints which certainly doesn't get me mellowed out in the evening.

More from The Pogues and Enya.

Fwiw : the Enya dvd/cd is in DTS ....no surround indication on the package though.
