My weekend consisted of installing a new Technics SL-1210GR turntable into my main system and documenting the component connections so others in the house can utilize it. I installed a Audio Technica VM540ML cartridge with a Microline stylus and hope to get to some CD-4 playback after some break in.

All the best Quad collectors should have a BETA machine

I bet you have one Ron. Beta Hi-Fi! Remember how exciting it was to record 2 channels in 20-20k beta hifi and for the other 2 channels use a PCM encoder on the video input for 16/44 digital. We had an alternative to record 4.0 other than a reel to reel or (god forbid) 4 track cassette.
The deck is not getting much use now as the tapes for the most part have been transferred to digital and the occasional music video transfer.

I think you made the right choice on the Marantz. I am really enjoying mine. It is so versatile and great sounding that I have no wants for now.
thanks Mark...soothing words from you and other members...I Loooove it...not only its great sound but the .. BLUE EYE!!!!

No I have a Elcassette

Aah...Good question. When I am recording a stereo or SQ record to tape the signal goes through one then the other making two passes then to the SQD 2020. When recording a CD 4 record the signal goes to the demodulator then the front signal passes through one TNE and the rear signal passes through the other TNE then to the four channel tape recorder (GX 270D SS)

Cool, I only have one in the chain after my Denon 1200DP and before the Bellari tube phono preamp.

Nice you've got it rigged up to record, but if I were you I'd run the front/rear TNE outputs into a 4-channel soundcard and record your decoded/demodulated LP into a PC rather than dub a reel. Perfect preservation in the digital realm.

Nice stuff. Always loved those meters on the SQD-2020.
