What does high res mean?
Isn't all high res have a designation like, bitrate sacd XRCD ect?
Or is the fact that its multichannel automagically make it high res?

Hi-Rez generally refers to 24 bit resolution and higher using lossless compression algorithms. Minimum frequency rate is 44 or 48 kHz but 96 kHz is viewed as minimum acceptable

Dvd-audio and SACD were the two lead formats 20 (!) years ago. DualDisc was a double sided optical disc with Redbook (CD) on one side and DVD-Audio on the other. But sometimes it was just multichannel DTS, a lossy compression format.

But DTS the company also put out some outstanding DVD Audio discs. Confusing ain't it?

Now we also have blu-ray and several different recording formats.

Years ago this forum was the scene of many debates and conversations and people could be emotional about their view points.

Google high resolution audio and you will find many articles to keep you busy.

Me? I've gone back to Analog.

Or Dolby Digital. Great price on a great disc. Surprised it's still here.
