I confess that other than an occasional Heineken, I seldom drink beer anymore. But, the best I ever drank was at small town breweries in Germany when I went on leave there for a several days before hitting Paris.
For many years I've been a sour mash whiskey man-started out with JD in the Army actually. These days mostly George Dickel #6. But if I had a good beer right now I'd drink it!

I have liked Budweiser and Jack Daniels since I was a kid and that's probably not going to change. When I raced bicycles for 10 years, everybody on the team was oh so Belgium, but not me I stuck to my guns.

I'm enjoying a Sam Adams Winter Lager.

From Wisconsin where we have tons of great microbreweries (and the land of the really really old breweries as well: Leinenkugels, Pabst Blue Ribbon, Miller, etc!) I love trying new stuff from all around and loved recently sipping a Dog Fish Bitches Brew while listening to the Quad version! There is a place in Milwaukee called Lake Front Brewery that every Black Friday makes a limited edition brew that sells out within hours. Here is info on this year's: https://fox6now.com/2018/11/23/we-eat-and-come-down-for-the-beer-lakefront-brewerys-black-friday-beers-🍺-attract-thousands-of-fans/
I LOVE Lakefront! Great beer and a really fun tour when I was there.

I usually drink IPA's. Love a few diff DFH beers, 90 min and their seasonal barleywine, Olde School. Bell's Two Hearted is fantastic, imo. Drink Sculpin when in San Diego. Not normally into the hazy wheat beers but Sierra's Hazy Little Thing I thought was pretty good from newer releases. Travel alot for work and like to try the local beers when I do. So many it's hard to keep them tracked.

Kind of a personal plea. If you see Resilience IPA available, give it a try. It's Sierra Nevada's recipe but it's been shared with any brewer who wants to participate, so you may see it branded under any number of different brewers. All proceeds are supposed to be allocated to victims of the Camp Fire in California. Great cause! I haven't seen it yet, but will be partaking when I see it available. https://sierranevada.com/beer/specialty/resilience-butte-county-proud-ipa

I tend to avoid anything with the letters IPA in the name. There have been a few isolated ones here and there. Ecliptic Hypernova is good, Widmer once made one called Deadlift. Also, I've had a few Hazy/New England style IPAs that have been good. I just don't like the bitter taste/aftertaste thing. And most IPAs are all about that.

Four of our local breweries have gotten the recipe from SN and have brewed batches that should hit our taprooms in the next 7-10 days - I intend to try a couple at least to see what subtle differences appear from different brewers using the same recipe and ingredients.

Weekend is here and normally that means I share some kind of sour or gose with Mrs D but she's down with a bad cough/cold still so I'm getting into my hops a bit earlier than normal. First stop is a can of Upslope (Boulder, CO) "Fresh Hop IPA - Tap Room Series" (v2018 - 6.8% abv, ibu n/a). Pretty smooth for an IPA, seems more in the pale ale area to me but nicely balanced.

Oh, and I am "DesertChaos" on Untappd if any you lot wish to friend/follow!

Going off the hop trail for a change of pace - we'd wanted to do a home-brew stout to have on hand for all the company coming over x-mas but the coughs and colds got in the way...easy solution....hit one of our fave local breweries and have them fill up the keg.....so it's Boxing Bear's "Chocolate Milk Stout with Coffee" (6.3% abv, 20 ibu). Their version without the coffee has gotten a few national awards (including gold at GABF in Denver), and the coffee just adds a nice additional flavor to a great stout.

Haven't taken time to read this thread, though I love microbrews and I homebrew.
My one comment at this time is I'm sick of the over-hopped craze. Been at least a decade here in CA. Totally over it. I'll have an IPA or two in the Spring or Summer and that's about it anymore. Let alone Double IPA, Imperial, etc.

I've several friends (and online beer-buddies) that suffer from "hop-fatigue" but I've not gotten there yet. Perhaps because although I love that aspect of a brew I also get into the opposites- the sours and gose, stouts and porters....balance the hops out with the other great brews. Yeah, if I had nothing else but IPA, DIPA etc I'd be burned out too.

There are taprooms here with nothing but overhopped beers. A dozen overhopped beers to choose from. Nothing else, except maybe some fruity beer for GFs.

I love sours!!!

Hey I love fruity beers! Wheats, gose, sours...great for added fruit. Actually, one of our home-brew medals was for a gose infused with prickly-pear - the freezer still has some fruit and juice from last years crop so we'll be able to get another batch done and tapped for that great summer hot afternoon brew.
