Abraxas by Santana was a devillish 70's Lp which I had in the 70's (SQ i seem to remember). I have the DTS 5.1 version which is magnificent - and was surprised that the SACD release is stereo only. Why? Could they not re-use the DTS mix and dust it off - it must be fairly recent?

Well, Santana Abraxas was released in the first batch of SACDs before Multichannel SACDs were issued.

Now that Sony Music is re-releasing some of their original Stereo only SACDs in Multichannel/Stereo, Santana Abraxas would be a good candidate for such a reissue.

In the meantime, the Stereo SACD is very good and worth a listen.

Santana - Abraxas in 4.0 (quad) mix is reasonbly available on a DTS CD if you're equipped to handle such a format.

It's 1972 all over again, the Abraxas mix is reeling you around the room with full force. Santana III was great too.

Sony will likely get around to doing the SACD properly as multi-channel, but who know's when? (should've been released this way to begin with)

My 5 disc SACD changer is now full, I want some more SACD multi-channel discs to spin. I won't buy the stereo ones yet.

There are plenty of good ones these days. I don't think your changer will be empty!

I have trouble thinking of any available beyond these:

Blue Oyster Cult - Agents of Fortune
Beck - Sea Change
Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells
Police - The Singles (which I have on DTS)

Okay, I forgot:

David Bowie - Heathen
James Taylor - JT
James Taylor - October Road

At least I can still gripe about price and general availabilty.

You'll also want to try:
Los Angeles Guitar Quartet - LAGQ: Latin
Broadway Inspirational Voices - Grace
Alison Krauss & Union Station - New Favorite
James Taylor - Hourglass
Joe Satriani - Strange Beautiful Music
O'Jays - Ship Ahoy
