There have been a lot of test pressings in Germany with CD-4 and also SQ by Philips, Polydor and DGG (Deutsche Gammophon Geselschaft (classical). But official by interviews the manager have told, that they have had never an interess for Quadraphony. This was a real outlook to the 4-channel surround general and especially in Germany - one of the biggest market for music software. If Polygram, Philips and DGG would introduced CD-4 also here, the quadraphonic world could have been better with more success. Meanwhile we know from late statesments of some managers, that the most of their sound engineers was enthusiastic from CD-4, but the top managers has made the decision, that they don't make Quadraphony or only in SQ. But a real cheek is the situation, that quadraphonic programms was offered in Canada with Q8 (James Last and other from Polydor) and 6 in Japan from Polydor in CD-4. The SQ productions from BASF in Germany one could received in Japan as CD-4 records. But it was unknown here by the fans in that time. A real crazy world by introduction (?) Quadraphony. But later only the consumers should have the blame for the failure of quadraphonic surround.
And it seems, that the software industry is also actual not really some more clever.
