I've been looking through the threads, but can't find the SONY equivilent of the Harmon Kardon 8+. Does anyone know the model please? Thanks.

is it just me, or do a lot of these models have no fast forward?
Most have no FF. If you look closely at the pictures above, Akai CR-80DSS has FF above the stop button. Panasonic/Technics RS-858 has FF, as well. That button is at the right of the cartridge slot.
Even in a machine that does have FF capability, I'd be VERY hesitant to be fast forwarding an 8-track tape in one of these players. Particularly a quadraphonic 8-track that I cared about. Tape tension issues are such a common problem with 8-tracks that, to me, it would be a little like playing Russian Roulette with your tape to attempt fast forwarding. You might be just fine or you might end up being the guy with the bullet in the chamber.
