I got this one and the Supremes/Temptations TCB record from a serious Diana Ross collector - they both look like they've never even been played.

Tracklisting/Lyrics insert - the level of care they take with these is amazing, every Japanese Motown release has one. It has the tracklisting and lyrics (and sometimes production/musician credits) in both English and Japanese. It's especially evident how much care they took in the lyrics sheets for the live albums, which transcribe every bit of between-song banter with nary a spelling mistake to be found.

The Diana & Marvin album is one of my favourite of the Motown quad mixes, and an album I never would have picked up otherwise - I only grabbed my first copy about 10 years ago because it was cheap, and Cai Campbell said he'd trade me an M-Audio Delta 66 sound card and a DVD-A conversion of the album in exchange for letting him keep the album. I think that just shows you what a decent kind of guy he was.

Also, I actually think it's a stronger album than Marvin Gaye's 'Lets Get It On' which is infinitely more famous than this one.

This album, of all the Motown CD4's I've heard (which is most of them) is my favourite, I think. It's also my favourite of the Norman Whitfield-era Temptations albums, and it's also a better mix than the stereo mix. I don't think there are any 'hits' per-se, on it, but for me it's the strongest and most consistent of their psychedelic soul albums. The quad mix is excellent too, much more discrete than the 'All Directions' CD4 which immediately preceded it. Having said that, I'd reccomend getting this even if it's only to listen to in stereo.

I haven't actually heard this one, but if you like The Temptations late 60's and early 70's work, the tracklisting sure can't be beat. I'll be interested to see if it actually has discrete musical elements in the rear, or if it's just a band in front/crowd in back type live mix. Anyone heard this one or the other live Motown Japanese CD4s by the Supremes or the Jackson 5?

Yaaaaay! I finally got the Warner, Elektra, etc. Demonstration Quadradisc and both the record and cover are in nearly perfect condition. The cover, of course, being the one I previously voted as the best quad cover ever.
