DROP YOUR WAD ON QUAD Chicago, Illinois
We ALL have favorite albums that remain UNRELEASED in Quad/5.1. What's on your wish list? Your list can be as few as one, or as many as 51. Quad/5.1 mixes that remain unreleased qualify, just like those never mixed for surround. Compilations are OK. Of course, 2ch SACD's are candidates, too. Perhaps one of our record company friends will take action to realize our fantasies! Sometimes, it's fun to dream.

Love: Forever Changes. It was said that they original master tapes are lost, so this can't be done unfortunately.

Most well known, and some obscure....

Gazpacho - Tick Tock
Gazpacho - Night
Talk Talk - The Spirit Of Eden
Phideaux - Doomsday Afternoon
Porcupine Tree - The Sky Moves Sideways
Riverside - Anno Domini High Definition
Air - Moon Safari
Peter Gabriel - 3 (Melt)
Tool - 10,000 Days

I believe that makes a nice round 50 :smokin

LizardKing... you and I have a very similar taste in music! I see from your avatar that you are a Porcupine Tree fan. I am too... SMS stands for Sky Moves Sideways.

Anyhow... Here are a few that are on my wish list:

Devin Townsend - Ki
Devin Townsend - Ghost
Kevin Gilbert - Thud
The Tea Party - The Edges of Twilight
White Willow - (anything!)
Kate Bush - The Dreaming
Kate Bush - Ariel
Marillion - Afraid of Sunlight
Marillion - Marbles
Porcupine Tree - Signify

That's all that's coming to mind right now...

Forever Changes is in my top five list of wish mixes.

Mine too, but yes, the multis appear to be gone for good, unfortunately.

For this post, I'll go with '60s albums that most likely still have existing multis:

Beatles: Revolver, Pepper, MMT, White, AR, and even (sigh) LIB.

Rolling Stones: AFTER-MATH (UK), BTB, TSMR, BB and LET IT BLEED.

Van Morrison: Astral Weeks. There is an upmix out there that suggests this would, indeed, be very fine in 5.1.

Simon & Garfunkel: Bookends.

Led Zeppelin: I or II. Mr. Jimmy surely has all of that stuff safely hidden away....

Jimi: AXIS and LADYLAND. Not AYE (either edition), which was not well recorded and its doubtful that, even if multis exist, much could be done to make it work that well.

The Velvet Underground: S/T, the 1969 album. Which would make a third mix, I guess. Neither VU&NICO or WL/WH would work in quad, let alone 5.1, IMO.

The Monkees: Headquarters. Some interesting quad-like mixes have surfaced, and thanks to that old 3-CD box set, we also know that multis exist for much of the album, and probably all of it. The others? Who knows what's in the vaults....

Jethro Tull: Stand Up.

Dylan: Highway 61.

The Byrds: The Notorious Byrd Brothers.

The Association: Greatest Hits. Since that album was a remix effort, safe to think the multis still exist.

The Who Sell Out. The only one of the early Lp's that would benefit from 5.1.

Fat Mattress: S/T. Underrated 1969 gem.

Traffic: Traffic. 1968, ditto.

There are others, to be sure, but these come to mind first.

ED :)

Moonflower- Santana
Aja-the dan- all of the dans work, especially katy lied
Sgt. Peppers-(B)
any jimi hendrix
Mothers of Invention
KINKS! any-all! (redone in stereo on sacd)
and the same with CCR, why in stereo only?

Hmmm, this could take a while....

Beatles - Abbey Road, Let it Be
Eagles - S/T, Desperado, The Long Run
Steve Miller - Book of Dreams
The Rocky Horror Picture Show OST
The Grass Roots - Leaving it all Behind, Move Along, Alotta Mileage, S/T '75 Album on Haven.
The Guess Who - So Long, Bannatyne, Live at the Paramount (which probably does exist),
Sly Stone - There's a Riot going On (also might actually exist)
Saturday Night Fever OST (yeah, a guilty pleasure)
CCR - Cosmo's Factory, Willy & The poor Boys
Van Morisson - Moondance
James Taylor - Sweet Baby James
Barry White - Can't Get Enough
James Gang - 16 Greatest Hits

I'll probably think of more.....
