QQ Facebook Page!

I resisted doing this, and still am not sure what I'm doing with it, but we now have a QQ Facebook Page!

I suppose I'll have to enable Facebook Integration in the forum software at some point. I did this to be able to "vote" on the HD Tracks Facebook page for Multichannel downloads. I hope everyone here goes over there and lets them know we're ready embrace 5.1 downloads. There are a lot of anti-surround postings over there, so we need a big showing.

Frankly, I don't see how it could hurt. They can offer them, and if no one buys them, it really doesn't cost them a whole lot and they can stop offering them. I happen to think they'll be worth keeping, but that's me!

If any of you Facebook Experts here can give me some pointers, either in this thread or via PM, I'd appreciate it.

I have "liked" this page.

All I ask is that any QQ members who seek me out on FB simply unfriend me if my rants about politics and religion bother you. It won't hurt my feelings. I consider QQ a safe place where I can be friendly with all sorts of people with whom I share a common interest, regardless of any other ideological positions, and I'd like to keep it that way.

This is truly an idea whose time has come.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to participate in QQ Facebook. I facilitate 7 physical groups for teenagers. The rules we've set up are that we won't participate in social networking sites, or have contact by phone, E-Mail or in person with the teens outside the physical groups. This is meant to eliminate the possiblilities of being mistaken for Jerry Sandusky. Although I also facilitate 2 adult physical groups attached to 2 closed Yahoo groups, someone else runs the Facebook groups tied to them. I don't participate in those Facebook groups, either.

This isn't a judgement, just my reason for eschewing Facebook participation.

I do wish everyone the best of luck in implementing the Facebook group!

I like QQ on Facebook. I visit QQ and Facebook most days, a good way to keep up with surround music and my children, I don't hear much of either these days.

I went looking over there and found this little tidbit, I never knew! and do I feel out of touch:

Some options for those who have not done FB yet, but curious. With Facebook you don't Have to do anything there except log-in now and then (not even once a month). It's just a tool that can either be helpful or useless depending on what you want/could use it for. If anyone is considering creating a FB page to help promote Surround, it's no big deal, but could be helpful. You Do Not have to put any photos of yourself or tell anyone where you live, do or say anything else you would not normally do here. You absolutely do want to check the "privacy" controls under the hood there and be sure you have in place about what is shared, from what you do post there and who/what can contact you and other general FB notifacations.

One can also create a different FB page that is different than the one you might be already using for family and friends and make it say, a Surround or Quad only account/page using a Quad handle for instance. As what one is trying to use FB for, at least in this instance, social media to help promote and get the word out about Surround music and its importance.

Well to add some context to my post, just putting it out there in case folks we're interested in trying FB. But I do understand, oh no, not another thing one has to log-in to. From time to time I get annoying e-mail reminders from Facebook that I have new "notifications," or FB also says that friends there "miss me" as a ploy to trigger an emotional response to log-in there. I also understand that by law, some folks cannot as per contracts or other issues use social media depending on what one's job is. This is a common thing we deal with here in California.

It can also be a "situation" when a good friend whom I'm talking with on the phone asks if "I've seen their FB posting." I have to put it nicely in the most respectful terms, because I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, that no I have not. I'm talking with you on the phone.

I like Facebook, about half of my 1970 graduating HS class and my children and other relatives are Facebook friends, not many others. It is great to see pictures of grandchildren and old friends. I can't imagine any reason to be concerned about something bad coming from a Facebook account.

Oh, I agree. FB is on all the time for me. I've restarted friendships with people I've known since I was five years old. I consider FB to be a wonderful thing. I understand people's privacy concerns, but a little common sense goes a long way sometimes.

got response from HD tracks asking for MC downloads: and I mentioned QQ to them also,

"Thanks, we are looking into bringing out some multi-channel titles in the future.
Not much else is known at this time."

FB groups are so 2009. Pages are much easier to administer and have more visibility. The group thing really petered out over the past couple of years.

I don't think I did that, but who knows? This weekend I will "dress it all up" a little better, but I'm not sure why it doesn't show up in a search.
