We don't go to very many shows anymore, just find it harder and harder to tolerate the hassle of crowds. Also, few of the bands we would go see play in this town so it means travel so things really have to line up for us to get away, really has to be something we want to see.

We are doing a short getaway trip up to Denver in a couple weeks - Saturday show at The Ogden Theater...Seu Jorge and his "Life Aquatic, Tribute to D Bowie" show:

The Life Aquatic Studio Sessions Featuring Seu Jorge is an album by Brazilian musician Seu Jorge, released in 2005. It is a collection of David Bowie songs (plus one original, "Team Zissou") Jorge recorded in Portuguese for the soundtrack to the film The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.

Carl Palmers ELP Experience just finished... Hoedown, the Show That Never Ends, Knife Edge, Lucky Man, Fanfare for the Common Man... next up... Todd Rundgren!

Did Todd come out during Carl's set and sing Lucky Man?

Took the opportunity to see K.D Lang in Toronto on Wednesday night.

Her voice was stellar, along with her band. A very good evening indeed.

You really know the respect and admiration of the audience when in the most soft and quite passages of the song, you could of heard a pin drop. No shout outs. A refreshing experience.

Did she do any of the stuff from the Case/Lang/Viers album on her own? Be interested to see how her band would interpret some of those songs.

Yes, she did announce/play a song from that album.
Sorry I cannot remember the name of the song, but I do remember liking it very much.

You know?...My personal experience with Steve Howe has not been good at all-he has always been a grouch...but this is a lot and I feel for him.

I always say, CELEBRATE the LIFE of the departed....they would not have wanted you to be sad...and at least his son got to be an adult and play music!!!

    ------

On other news, I was planning on going to see the David Gilmour at Pompeii (and see if I could see our fellow QQ'er , César, who was there, but THEY HAVE CLOSED DOWN the movie theaters that I go to...they say they are planning to open again "In Autumn"...but, seeing how little people actually went to these movie theaters..I would not rule out that they are closing down for good!!!!

I saw X at the Waiting Room in Omaha on Monday night. Forty years in and they sounded fantastic. The sound levels were good. Started with earplugs but took them out because the volume was great. Exene sounded better at the show than on the dvd and blu ray I have. Band seemed to be having fun and Billy can still play. I have been a fan since high school, but had never seen them live. Glad I saw the original line up even though I like Dave Alvin's music. Scott

It's a long way off, but grabbed tickets to see Steven Wilson on Monday May 14 in Phoenix. Denver show was on a Saturday which is much more convenient, but the Phoenix show is a nicer theater with reserved seating.

I realize I have failed to keep the forum up-to-date with all of my concert activities since mid-June.
This needs to be rectified immediately as I have been to 5 awesome shows since that time! (All shows were in Nashville)

Saturday July 22nd was Moody Blues performing "Days of Future Passed" at the Ryman Auditorium. First half was nothing really unique (but then again I have been to 7 MB shows in total so that's to be expected, lol) but they really did a fantastic job replicating "Days of Future Passed" for the second half. Justin Hayward & John Lodge traded vocal duties for the songs originally sung by Ray Thomas & Mike Pinder.

Wednesday August 2nd was Queen + Adam Lambert at Bridgestone Arena. I'm not the biggest fan of Adam Lambert, but for most of the show, he fit right in and did not upstage Brian May & Roger Taylor. There were a few moments in the middle that were pretty camp, but highlights included a blistering version of "Stone Cold Crazy", "I'm In Love With My Car" (sung by Roger Taylor), "Get Down, Make Love", and Adam's stirring performance of "Who Wants to Live Forever".

A week later I was back at Bridgestone Arena on Sunday August 13th for Roger Waters. I would not say that this current tour ("US + THEM") is any better than "The Wall" was, but I was almost moved to tears by the incredible performance of "Welcome to the Machine". That in itself was worth the price of admission! Other highlights included "Dogs", "One of these Days", and "Us and Them".

The following Sunday August 20th was Donald Fagen & the Nightflyers at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. This was not a particularly memorable concert, but Mr. Fagen and his band of younger cohorts did a great job playing tracks from Fagen's first two solo records along with a whole lot of classic Steely Dan.

Finally, last night's show at Ascend Amphitheater might be the winner for my favorite show this year. It was Depeche Mode. It was my first time going to a concert of the synth-crazed Brits, but it was definitely one for the memory books! Some of their newest songs worked just as well in the set as their older classics, and I was getting serious chills as they played "In Your Room" from "Songs of Faith & Devotion". Other highlights included "Walking in My Shoes", "Never Let Me Down Again", "Enjoy the Silence", "World In My Eyes", and an amazing rendition of "Heroes" by David Bowie during the encore.

If you're in the Western part of the US or Canada, make sure to catch Depeche Mode over the next month before you miss out on a most incredible show!

    Surround yourself with the best.

Coming soon in 2017: "Eye in the Sky" (The Alan Parsons Project), "Black Sea" (XTC) and "A Farewell to Kings" (RUSH)!
Already released: "Songs from the Wood" (Jethro Tull); "Misplaced Childhood" (Marillion); "Three Piece Suite" (Gentle Giant) and "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band"

Cool, maybe I'll see you there. I chose 3rd row in first section of mezanine as my wife is super short and I feared if I took floor, she couldn't see.

Taj Mo' - Taj Mahal & Keb' Mo' Sept. 12th Pabst Theater Milwaukee, WI
Henry & Kevin were great, so was their band. Most songs were performed with both of them.

Maren Morris Oct. 6th - The Rave (Eagles Ballroom) Milwaukee, WI
Had seen Maren last year at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee.
We're supposed to have a meet & greet before show.
