Supertramp Live In Paris '79 - Blu Ray August 29th
Recorded during the tour in support of Breakfast in America in 1979 - newly remixed from the original multis (by original sound engineer/co-producer Pete Henderson).
Re: Supertramp Live In Paris '79 - Blu Ray August 29th
always liked this band. unlike other big acts of their time, their albums were recorded pretty good
in regards of fidelity of the sound and mixing technique.
couldn't expect too much for 5.1 from live recording but if this BD will include HiRez surround, i'm
obviously in.
i wish they will consider to remix into surround their back catalogue. their multilayered musical
arrangements and use of vocal's parties are meant to be heard in surround.

I can easily imagine Even in the Quietest Moments being one of my favourite surround discs. Blu-ray? Steven Wilson? Sweet dreams are made of this.

Great news. Hoping for a discrete mix. I never knew this was filmed. Crime, Crisis, Quietest, and Breakfast would all make outstanding 5.1s. The upmix for Breakfast is pretty enjoyable now.

Not sure why 'cause it works for me and several others apparently - try http://www.eagle-rock.com/ or just type in http://www.eagle-rock.com - that's the main page - from there you can click on new releases, select format and it should get you there.

The link worked for me, BUT I got error code 404 on Eagle Rock's website. Then, when I did a search on Supertramp, it came up empty on Ego Rock's site,

However, the track listing seems a little odd...surely the last few tracks should be before 'Crime of the Century'? Or are they extras??

I saw on another website, (sorry - I am not sure where, I was looking at this very late last night) - that the film footage was lost for this, the audio will be present with film montage for the five tracks after Crime of the Century. (oh, how I hope this is not just audience in the rears - From Now On in 5.1....mmmmm.....)
here's link to same release but with a bit detailed description.
there are stated 5.1 DTS-HD MA and LPCM 2.0 but not mentioned is it 96 or 48KHz
also explains weirdness of tracklist:
Five tracks for which the original footage has been lost are presented with newly created montage visuals: 1) Ain’t Nobody But Me 2) You Started Laughing (When I Held You In My Arms) 3) A Soapbox Opera 4) From Now On 5) Downstream

same with me. I did a search for supertramp and it came back as an error. Then looked through the list and nothing???
The divorce was my fault, I just couldn't get along with her boyfriends.

My guess is that Supertramp isn't selling well in the US these days. The 2 disc deluxe Breakfast in America wasn't pressed here either. Too bad, 'cause it's a great band.
Have your cry, no I should say WAIL!!

I ordered this from amazon.uk but now after reading this it kinda makes sense why its not being released in North America and am surprised that its released at all. I feel really conflicted about getting this now as not very happy how this went down and my Bluray is already in transit so can't cancel my order now. Really to bad how there is such a breakdown/disconnect between Davies/remaining band members and how they have treated Roger Hodgson on the Supertramp legacy.
Here's a link with more information on this release from Roger:
Re: Supertramp Live In Paris '79 - Blu Ray August 29th
Received mine yesterday after seeing the Hodgson's letter. It's a must for Supertramp's fans because it is a great concert, but don't buy this to have a incredible DTS sound and a amazing picture quality, although they have gone job a good with those, especially the picture.
Re: Supertramp Live In Paris '79 - Blu Ray August 29th
I don't know... I read RH's letter and how he can't endorse the disc because of it's poor quality. Maybe he has a crappy system or something (kidding). This is a great disc of an exceptional show. The surround mix is really nice though there is barely anything in the center and it's mostly crowd in the rear with some wrap around from the front. The picture quality is great (even for being from 16mm) and it is 16x9. There are 4 videos specially made for the songs that had no film. They are nothing special but the songs all sound equally as great as the rest of the show. I really enjoyed this a lot. All the great tracks are here. I think to own this disc is a no brainer. It's unfortunate that it has become all tangled up in the controversy but I am happy I was able to get copy. I highly recommend this one.
Re: Supertramp Live In Paris '79 - Blu Ray August 29th
Bob, glad you got it. I will be stalking the mail carrier tomorrow.
As for Roger, I have a feeling the "missing quality" would be some sort of featurette and listing song writing credits. Yeah, that could be a plus, but the number one is sound and sights for most of us. It's been nearly 30 years since he left the band. It's too bad he couldn't have more successfully moved on. First solo was fine, but the rest, as I recall was barely listenable. hai-hai?
