Singer and Acoustic Guitarist David Elias has added Multichannel DSD Downloads on his web site at http://davidelias.com/home.html They are available for purchase and download starting this afternoon.

Long time SACD fans will remember Elias as an independent acoustic musician based on the SF Bay Area Coast near Half Moon Bay (he's now based in Hawaii) who issued two of the first direct to DSD albums - recorded live to the Sony Sonoma DSD Workstation and EMM Labs Meitner DSD Converters.

Since that time, the first of these Hybrid Surround/Stereo SACDs, The Window, has gone out of print. Elias posted the Stereo DSD files of The Window in 2009 and they remain available for purchase.
Today, Elias has posted the Multichannel DSD files from The Window on his web site and they are available as a set of 12 for $24.95.

His second Hybrid Surround/Stereo SACD, Crossing, only has a limited number of SACD copies left. The final SACD copies are available via the CD Baby web site at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/elias7 for $39.95.
This afternoon, Elias posted the Multichannel DSD files from Crossing on the web site as well. This Multichannel DSD download is also offered as 12 songs for $24.95.

If you visit the David Elias web site or the CD Baby web site (links above) you can take a listen to samples from the albums and decide if this music is your cup of tea. If it is, I'd strongly suggest getting these
Multichannel DSD files. They are simply excellent!

For reference, here are my write ups of these two SACDs when they were first issued - via the High Fidelity Review web site archive:

The iTrax site has had these for some time in multi-channel FLAC/PCM. It would be interesting to know how Waldrep converted the DSD files to PCM and for some enterprising person to do a comparison. I've had the FLAC files from iTrax for a couple years. Hmm, do I need the DSD files too? I don't think so ... my ears are too old to know the difference anymore - even if there is a difference.

Once you hear the DSD versions of these albums, there's no going back to a PCM downsampled version. Even older ears could tell them apart!

I'm afraid it is not. It's clearly a downsample from the DSD master tape.

Maybe so (by a fraction of a Mhz) but at these levels, I can't tell the difference on this disk. Maybe your equipment does better with DSD than mine. I also prefer working with PCM, but I'll take a quality DSD recording over CD any day.

In this new video, David Elias talks with Steven Rochlin at Enjoy The Music and David Robinson of Positive Feedback about his journey to becoming a musician, recording in 5.1 Surround Sound and offering downloads on his web site. Well done.

The two David Elias in Multichannel SACD are out of print, however Amazon.Com linked to several sites that have copies of the second one (Crossing) starting at about $45.

Just heard about that yesterday. Good news for Multichannel fans who don't have Elias' albums in Multichannel download form. It's a must have!
