Rare Euro promo (I wonder if we should do a separate SACD promo thread? There's loads of cool discs to talk about)

The two from "Les Percussions de Strasbourg" at the bottom right are possibly unfamiliar to QQ-ers outside of France (?) they both sound absolutely superb..

Not that rare but as usual demand outstrips supply so it's generally not cheap (unless you get lucky of course!)

Dutch singer Traincha (better known as Trijntje Oosterhuis) released a Multichannel SACD in Europe that was a tribute to the music of Billie Holiday and George Gershwin.

It was recorded live and featured the Jazz group The Houdini's and the Classical String Orchestra Amsterdam Sinfonietta. These days you might find a used copy of this Multichannel SACD, but it is one to look for. The liner notes describe the album:

"Conductor Wayne Marshall, a real Gershwin authority, had to compromise between the classical interpretation of a string orchestra, the jazz music of The Houdini's and Traincha's pop-oriented vocal interpretation. This proved a great challenge for all musicians involved. What brought us together was a mutual passion and love for music. It was a great honor to work with all of them."

image.jpgLydie Auvray's "Triangle" (her other SACD is much easier to get cheap but this is much nicer and does come up every now and then.. fabulous sound quality and a lovely warm fuzzy feeling all round, the surround mix isn't upto much but I love this one)..
