Mike Mettler at the Sound Bard has posted his interview with James Guthrie on the mixing of Amused to Death by Roger Waters into 5.1 Surround Sound.
An interesting one.

Mettler: Can you discuss any of your future hi-res/5.1 (re)mixing plans? Have you and Roger discussed doing other albums from his solo canon, such as [1984’s] The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking and [1987’s] Radio K.A.O.S., or other Floyd material like [1977’s] Animals?

Guthrie: I’m going to be starting a 5.1 mix of The Wall soon — the original studio album, that is. And we have discussed Animals. We haven’t talked about Pros and Cons or K.A.O.S., but you never know!

I just had a look at this years Grammy nominees. Apparently they announce the winner of the best surround album early on. This year it is none other than Roger Waters "Amused To Death". Go figure.

Sony finally put this out on SACD in Japan, but it's identical to the Analogue Productions version, and even has their logo on it. Yuk! Remember back when they were going to do a BluSpec SACD, sort of like a SHM SACD... but it got cancelled for mysterious reasons.
