Looking into a used AKAI AS-980, said to be in very good condition, Volume pot not scratchy or anything, and alll lights work. It's supposed to be a 38Watt receiver and is going for 150$

Does this sound like a fair deal ?
Is this receiver any good ?

There seem to be very few comments on the forum, except for this thread. https://www.quadraphonicquad.com/forums/showthread.php?14184-RCVR-Akai-AS-980 I haven't used this model, but have an AS-960. I liked the sound of it, but the tone controls only work for the front channels. Your model appears to have a CD4 demodulator built in too. I don't think the price is unreasonable, but think you could do better for the money. Here is a better option for twice the money. http://www.canuckaudiomart.com/details/649143771-sansui-qrx-7001-4channel-receiver-quad/ I would go after this one if I didn't already have one. If you are set on saving money, or if you are using outboard decoders, I would consider a reasonable offer on my AS-960 as I am not using it and it is taking up space. I am not in a position to ship or deliver, however.
