He states that it is a 'no reserve' auction. Why would he need one with a starting price that 'attractive'?

To top it off, he wants nearly $30 to ship the decoder that weighs less than 1lb. It did make me laugh, so I guess it has some redeeming qualities....

I like the way his description always says "Lafayette SQ-M Four Channel SQ Audio Decoder" and never "it"!

Lafayette made some good quad circuitry, just not this particular piece!

It's a fine simple passive decoder, but don't ever pay more than $25 (including shipping) for it. It's not that rare or effective.

The almost $17 he's charging for shipping is not unreasonable, since it's the size of the original box, and probably not its weight, that factors into the postage. That said, no, it's not a great vintage piece really worth owning, there are far better decoders to be had, to say the least.

Ebay is showing shipping to Texas as $28.58. That's the max I would pay for this decoder including the shipping.
