very nice sounding cart.. and I've loved the mix from the first time I heard it..

Peter Primamore ďGranciaĒ SACD- beautifully played and recorded - discrete too! Lovely chamber jazz perfect for a Sunday evening (martini included).

Richard Strauss - "An Alpine Symphony" SACD (Haitink/London Symphony Orchestra)... very wide sound stage; full use of the surrounds (bordering on discrete but not); EXCELLENT majestic, thundering, dynamic cinema-like music. I wish I had a surround version of "Also Sprach Zarathustra" with this good of a surround mix. Can't wait for my Dutton Vocalion SACD with Strauss' "The Hero" to arrive!

    Man, this sounds good

Edit: By the way, can anyone suggest a good surround version of "Also Sprach Zarathustra"?

Funny, I listened to "Wind and Wuthering" last night also...... one of my favorite Genesis titles, and I've been hooked on Jeff Beck at Hollywood Bowl.

yeah, yeah , yeah..I KNOW I'm, on this Fiona Apple groove...
and this is NOT a "Surround" mix,. but , dang it sounds GREAT through the THX +Music faux Surround!...isolated elements in the rears and everything!

    yes,the "Extraordinary Machine" Dual disc..
    (I'm, a hypnic jerk!!!!)

Some SERIOUS DEEP BASS here...brilliant lyrics...can't get enough of "Oh well" or "Red red red"...or "Please please please" or ....well , ALL OF IT...there are NO DUDS in this album!!!!
..her other three albums are really good but this one is her definitive masterpiece...

Deodato Prelude has a neat arrangement of it

It's one of the albums on the Vocalion two-fer SACD

I like Idlewild much better also...I voted a 10 for Idlewild on the poll and gave Eat A Peach an 8...the Peach was recommended to me early in my surround collecting days...it's not bad by any means...

Yep...that's the plan I have adopted...I used to keep all the titles...regardless of how much I liked them...but I recently adopted a "catch and release" program...why hold onto something that doesn't entertain you...let it go to someone who will really enjoy and use it...we all like different things...

Have you heard the quad mix? It's obviously not as clear as the SACD (the reel probably sounds nice though), but it is definitely more discrete. I don't spin the SACD too much but I'm glad both options exist.

Idlewild is a real hoot though...they should definitely give that engineer some more remix projects. It's funny because I think the same guy did the Peach & Fillmore SACDs, which are nowhere near as discrete. Guess he's got different philosophies about mixing studio tracks vs. live into surround.
