Received both of the Art Garfunkel SACDs direct from Dutton Vocalion today.
Can't wait to tear into these tomorrow evening and Wednesday!

:)

Made it to the Princeton Record Exchange today. The DVD-Audio of REM's Green for $5 was the deal of the day, but a decent haul all around (also got a bunch of RBCDs).

Bought it on ebay UK. My winning bid was GBP 12.99! I feel lucky.

György Ligeti: Requiem 5.1 DVD. I am reviewing this DVD because we all familiar with the monolith and the star-gate theme on 2001: A Space Odyssey.

This 2008 recording like expelled the veil from the piece we know, especially excellent separation of orchestra accompaniment from the clustered chorus. DVD 5.1 was authentic mid-large concert hall emulation with ample sidewall reflections.

I was delighted to hear the harpsichord on the closing movement finding its context -- they were mere blips on the Barvarian Radio Orchestra vinyl.

Although this piece remains one of the greatest consortium with film image, when Ligeti wrote it was intended as the four movements concert piece. If you are the fortunate lucky one able to blast surround regardless to your neighbor, this disc should be the one.

Theo Bleckmann & Ben Monder, At Night (Songlines 2.0/5.0 SACD, 2007). Minimal instrumentation (Bleckmann's amazing voice + electronics, Monder's guitars, Satoshi Takeishi's drums, percussion & laptop on some tracks), but very atmospheric surround. Nice repertoire, including unique takes on "Norwegian Wood" & Joni Mitchell's "Sunny Sunday."

Mahler, Symphony No. 10 (Deryck Cooke performing version; Berlin/Rattle) (EMI Classics, 2000). A strange disc: double-sided--DVD-V on one side and DVD-A on the other, both 44.1/24. But a very active mix for a live concert recording, and it sounds great.

me neither!

we never stop learning in this game! a man who is tired of multichannel is tired of life! :ROFLMAO:

from snooping about online it looks like MoFi did 8 of these in all?

I have them all and US based ImportCD has the MoFi Nevsky 4.0 SACD currently on sale for $12.62. After that, MoFi pulled the plug on all multichannel SACD titles. TOO much trouble!:ROFLMAO:(n)

4EW: thanks for the links. Do you have a complete list of those titles? (And other personal favorites?) I only know--and like--Slatkin's Planets.

The best I can do is furnish you with a list of ALL the MoFi SACD titles from HRAudio.Net. In scrolling through the titles, the 4.0 multis are pretty distinctive. I believe there were 8 in all

Note: All of these MoFi QUAD titles are out of print and some command outrageous prices. HRAudio.net does provide ordering links.
