Thanks Brian I was looking at that and will probably purchase.
Question: HDTracks and Acoustic Sounds has there own little download ports that I have set to automatically send to the NAS and then JRiver picks it up because I set that up to auto import from the NAS. Does NativeDSD have that kind of set up? So far it just downloads into my PC download folder and then I have to manually send it to the NAS, easy, but just a step I don't have to do with the other sellers.

It's a good one in DSD 256 Stereo. Definitely worth a purchase.
Not sure what you mean by "download ports". NativeDSD does offer a "Save to Dropbox" feature on their downloads so that it goes to a Dropbox account.

Moonlight Ladies in DSD 256 Stereo. The latest release from Jenna Mammina and John R. Burr from Blue Coast Music.
Blue Coast calls it "another fabulous set of classic (mostly James Taylor) songs". I'd say it's an excellent album. Highly recommended.

A DSD 128 Stereo Download (not available on SACD) featuring the Joe Holland Quartet.
The album was produced and engineered by Paul W. Klipsch, founder of Klipsch Loudspeakers.

Love the live sound and performances on this album. Recommended!

cover.jpg

Founded in 1946, Klipsch is one of America's best-known loudspeaker makers. Klipsch Tape Reissues Vol. II is an analog recording of the Joe Holland Quartet playing Jazz classics in a live recording. Members of the quartet are Joe Holland (drums), Fred Rogers (clarinet), Bill Wallace (piano) and Howard Ward (bass). Songs on the album include Yesterdays, Night and Day, Blue Moon, The Lady Is A Tramp, September Song and Pennies From Heaven.

This album was supervised and engineered by Paul W. Klipsch, founder of Klipsch Loudspeakers. The album has been transferred from Analog Master Tape to DSD 128 Stereo by Bob Witak at High Definition Tape Transfers using the Merging Technologies Hapi Analog to DSD Converter.

Klipsch Tape Reissues Vol. II is now available at the Native DSD Music store in DSD 128 and DSD 64 Stereo. (Purchases of the DSD 128 Stereo edition of the album allow listeners to download the DSD 64 edition at no added cost). It is a DSD Exclusive, Not Available on SACD release.

The album's session notes tell us "In July of 1955 when the music in this album was recorded, none of the principals concerned had any idea that the tapes would one day find themselves on the market. The purpose was merely to record material suitable for demonstrations. As a result the performers were under no strain whatever, and the playing clearly shows a spontaneity and vitality that one seldom hears outside of live and informal performances.

In keeping with the nature of the music, intimate microphone placement was employed with the result that certain extra-musical sounds are clearly audible at times. The usual practice of recording engineers is to edit out sounds of this sort, replacing them with portions of later "takes" of the same piece in which "errors" of this sort do not occur. While editing of this sort might result in a note perfect performance, it is in no sense a natural one. Since we believe that these sounds enhance rather than detract from the performance, and, since they are actually a part of what did take place, we wouldn't think of cutting them out.

To be specific, the drummer's suspension seat, as he bobs up and down on it, emits a sometimes audible squeak if one knows what to listen for. In addition there are breathing sounds and occasional key clicks from the clarinet as well as a few random subdued comments from the players. And perhaps the best of all occurs in the introduction of one of the numbers where one player, somewhat in doubt as to what the piece is, looks around quizzically and says, "What is this, Blue Moon?" (Whereupon one of his fellows nods affirmatively telling him that it is Blue Moon.) "

One reviewer said "Try to find a better recording on location of purely acoustic instruments. Even an equal quality recording. I'm not sure you can.

The Joe Holland Quartet sounds awesome. If you take into account when the sessions were done (1954-1957), things become simply jaw-dropping.

Take in mind this: "Jazz at the Pawnshop" has been usually hailed as the paradigm of a well-recorded album of the genre. But compared with this, it is a simple game for kids.

If you love good jazz and are fond of really, really good sound, you MUST HAVE this. You will not believe your own ears, trust me."

Legends Live at Liederhalle Stuttgart '69 with the Cannonball Adderley Quintet in Stereo DSD 256.

Excellent new Jazz DSD Download from 2xHD-SWR Music from the Analog Master Tapes. (Not available on SACD).

Cannonball Adderley Quintet - 2XHDSW1096 - 450.jpg

Leading off today's release of 5 new DSD albums is The Cannonball Adderley Quintet and their album Legends Live at Liederhalle Stuttgart '69. This is the latest release from the team at 2xhd Mastering, this time dipping into the Legends Live collection from Europe’s SWR2 Music catalog of classic Jazz recordings. It is an Analog Tape to DSD 256 transfer by 2xHD’s Rene LaFlamme using Merging Technologies Pyramix software and Horus Analog to DSD 256 Converter.

Native DSD Music is proud to add it to our ever-expanding collection of fine Jazz in DSD 64, DSD 128 and DSD 256. This is a DSD Exclusive release, not available on SACD.

2xHD-SWR Music tells us "Throughout the decade when pop ruthlessly swept jazz aside, the Adderley brothers (Julian "Cannonball" Adderley and Nat Adderley) managed to stay in business with their distinctive “spirit of the south” – an optimistic, life-affirming style of modern jazz, bursting with colour yet steeped in the blues. The Liederhalle concert was the highlight of the Cannonball Adderley Quintet’s 1969 European tour. And what a Quintet it was – Cannonball Adderley on Alto Sax, Nat Adderley on Trumpet, Joe Zawinul, who later went on to play in Weather Report, on keyboards, dynamic bassist Victor Gaskin and the energetic Roy McCurdy on drums. From Soul and Blues (Sweet Emma, Oh Babe) to free-form Contemporary (The Painted Desert) and lollypops cleverly combined with commercialism (Work Song), the audience that night witnessed the sublime art of the quintet."

Listening now to brand new release, Legacy, 3 Chord Trick. A rare rock music download from NativeDSD. Stereo wonderful.

A good album in DSD Stereo by several former members of Dire Straits.

I'm surprised it hasn't cracked the Top 10 on the DSD Best Sellers list at NativeDSD. (Currently # 16 on their DSD Best Sellers Chart).
Apparently, Jazz and Classical DSD titles sell more than Rock in DSD.

Hope - a live Analog recording transferred to Stereo DSD Download by Kevin Gray.
Features Grazing In The Grass and other favorites by the legendary artist.
Highly recommended!

"This DSD rendering of Hope is as close as you're going to get to a live musical experience. The musicianship from the assembled lineup is spectacular. The soundstage created places you at the center of it as if you were sitting right there in the club as it was performed. There is no artifice no special effects or gimmicks just music by one of the preeminent trumpet masters of the Afro Beat Jazz movement. The mixing and mastering is superb. I sometimes forgot that this was a live recording only to be reminded by the enthusiastic applause coming from the audience at the end of each track. The music covers close to fifty years of Masekela's career and as always he sings and plays about his life and the people of South Africa. It is a joyous affirmation of his homeland, its people, and his talent. It is without question one of the best recorded live albums I have ever heard in all my years of listening to music. I was thoroughly impressed and you will be too."

Jazz sax player Ben Webster's classic album "Gentle Ben" - now available for the first time in Stereo DSD 128 and DSD 256 from 2xhd Mastering.

Really excellent in Stereo DSD 256 here.
Recommended!

"First Time in DSD 128 and DSD 256!

Jazz legend Ben Webster is back with Gentle Ben, his 4th Stereo DSD album on 2xhd Mastering. (The first three DSD Albums - all Analog Tape to Stereo DSD transfers - were Ballads, Johnny Hodges featuring Ben Webster and Come Sunday.) The new album also features the Tete Montoliu Trio with Tete Montoliu (piano), Eric Peter (bass) and Peer Wyboris (drums).

If you want a great example of the later music of Ben Webster, this recording splendidly reproduces Ben’s glorious, utterly unique rich sound. The audiophile recording was made in a small theatre and recorded directly to an Analog 2-track tape recorder. Here it is further enhanced through Rene Laflamme's Analog Tape to DSD 256 transfer using the Horus Analog to DSD 256 Converter from Merging Technologies.

This is the first time that the Gentle Ben album has been made available in DSD 128 and DSD 256. It's available at the Native DSD Music store today in Stereo DSD 256, DSD 128 and DSD 64. When you buy the DSD 256 or DSD 128 editions of the album, the lower DSD bit rates are available to you at no added cost.

2xHD tells us: "The title ‘Gentle Ben’ was inspired by the warm and gentle atmosphere created by Ben during this, his last recording session before his death. The bluster has gone and he could caress a theme like ‘The Man I Love’ with tenderness. One of the paradoxes of Ben was that in person he was quite an aggressive man but in his music, he was gentle, seductive and sensual."

Does anyone know of a company legally selling Keb' Mo' "Just Like You" multi-channel DSD/FLAC that will allow a download to the UK? Its OOP in SACD form, and Acoustic Sounds won't allow downloads to the UK.

I haven't seen any Multichannel DSD or FLAC downloads from Sony Music - or from Warner Music and Universal Music for that matter.

Only the independent labels are offering Multichannel downloads to date.
And with some of the independent labels, the number of albums in Multichannel download format are in the hundreds!

Kudos to them for continuing to broaden the library of Multichannel music and new releases. :)

I listened to a sample of the first track and really liked it. I noticed that Trevor Horn plays bass on it too. How is the download process being done? I no longer have a PC or a MAC but do use an iPad. I would guess I’m SOL on further downloads.

I download with a PC or Laptop here. But some people have downloaded directly to their Network Storage device (NAS).
So there are some options out there.

Well, good news! It looks like I can download directly to a usb thumb drive off my iPad...I just tested a file and played fine on my Denon AVR. That will save me from purchasing another PC but at the expense of having to purchase the flash drives that I can use off my Apple devices.
