Jazz Singer Lyn Stanley's latest album "Potions (from the '50s)" features 15 classics. With a nod to the increasing interest in high resolution audio and DSD, this album was mostly recorded in Analog (all but 3 of the 15 tracks) and then transferred to DSD. Very warm and detailed listening on the DSD Download with the Lampizator. Nicely done.

On sale with introductory pricing at Downloads Now through early June. Have a listen to the sound files and consider it while the sale is on.

The Blues and the Abstract Truth is one of the best Jazz albums of all-time. Some rank it among the Top 10. It features Oliver Nelson on tenor sax along with some of the best Jazz players of all time - Bill Evans (piano), Roy Haynes (drums), Eric Dolphy (flute & alto sax), Paul Chambers (bass) & Freddie Hubbard (trumpet).

The album is now available in an Outstanding Stereo DSD Download, created from the Analog Master Tapes by Kevin Gray. If you're a Jazz fan, this is a must-own DSD Download. Just amazing. Highly recommended - from Acoustic Sounds Super HiRez.

"...Let me cut to the chase here and recommend that you buy two copies - one to enjoy and the other to hold for resale, because some day Acoustic Sounds' license will run out and lots of jazz fans will be kicking themselves for not buying a copy. Kevin Gray has turned out a perfect remastering job and this is my choice for reissue of the year." Recording = 10/10; Music = 10/10 - Dennis Davis, Hi-Fi+, Issue 68"

Eyeopener is a Jazz album by the European Jazz Trio Klatwerk3. Recorded in Multichannel DSD, this album was originally released as a Stereo CD and is now available as a Stereo and Multichannel DSD Download from Aliud.

The album features 15 tracks including two well known songs (Piano Man and Moon River) along with 13 compositions written by the trio members. It sells for $26.77 (Multichannel + Stereo DSD Downloads) with a COMBI deal on Native DSD.Com. An enjoyable Jazz album that covers a number of styles. Check out track 12 "A Funky Primer" for some nice low end bass action on your audio system.

The trio describes their new album as "a musical adventure" featuring "traditional Jazz, full blast swing and crispy funk music". Holly Moors of Moors Magazine review of the album concludes "If Klatwerk3 lived in America they would have become well known long ago because what the trio produces is absolutely world class. It is a bit unruly, but also crystal clear with twists and turns and is melodious, thrilling and precisely good."

I love this album...but isn't it a needledrop? Or have I confused it with a different Columbia Armstrong?

No, this one was created from the original Sony Super Audio CD cutting masters by Gus Skinas at the Super Audio Center.
Part of its appeal was the SACD was released in Stereo while earlier editions of the album were released in mono. In both cases from the session tapes in the late 1950s.

Available on Vinyl LP but long out of print on SACD. It was one of the early Sony Music Single Layer SACD releases (released on SACD in 1999).

Well, that's very interesting, thank you! Maybe I'll have to bite.

Checking my library, I guess I'm confusing this one with "Satch Plays Fats". There's some story about the mono masters being destroyed in the process of creating fake stereo ones, though I'm not sure how that makes sense.

Thanks - I've been meaning to look into his music for a long time, so this was a reminder for me. I'm opting for the SACD, though. ImportCDs!
