I would buy it. While classical is not my first choice, this title has a special and unique place in history, and the mix is excellent. Please keep those votes coming. I am hoping to have good voter turnout on this.

I think you all know my vote... YES! :eek:

I can understand some people's lukewarm reaction to such recordings. Naturally, there already are a lot of wonderful recordings available of Bach's music.

And... Even though I am usually all tied up listen to more orthodox classical recordings, crossover recordings can be a HOOT!

They not only help folks who are usually turned off by stuffy classical stuff, they can open up doors and offer new possibilities to the music itself.

J.S. Bach was certainly very keen on arranging music in order to play it on different instruments and in different styles. I think he would get a kick out of such arrangements.

If it has the original album cover I would buy it. So that would say Walter Carlos on it.

Why would that matter?

She's been Wendy longer than she's been Walter and no matter she's Wendy now and that's that.. it's most likely a non-issue for most enlightened "switched-on" people :)

Actually it would be a likely choice for Audio Fidelity since they worked with Wendy Carlos not that long ago on the reissue of the Tron Soundtrack on Vinyl LP and already have a working relationship with the artist.

What a lovely open face Marshall Blonstein has! I'd like to give him a big hug to say "Thanks" :)

I had to be honest and vote no. I commend the efforts of people to get this released on SACD. However it's not a disc I'd ever listen to more than maybe once just to check it out. I'd rather spend the money on titles I do want.

Would LOVE to have any and all of Wendy's releases in surround! For an entertaining and exhaustive take on all things surround you can read her views here;

That Switched-On Boxed Set is a thing of beauty. Beyond the complete recordings, original liner notes and bonus cuts is an incredibly detailed book covering every aspect of the projects. It's one of my favorite sets.

For more on the album and her collaborations with Bob Moog I'd recommend Analog Days by Trevor Pinch and Frank Trocco. Terrific read for any music fan.

"I like classical music but the synthesizer is really irritating and ruins it for me." You have to listen to it with your ears set to 1968.....a revelation at the time, and the start of the whole "Moog Music"
record craze! And as Adam says, the quad mix is very well done. John
