Some trivia for today....

John Denver wrote the song "Leaving On A Jet Plane", made popular by the Peter, Paul and Mary.
An early incarnation of John Denver's band early on included Bill Danoff & Taffy Nivert. Bill & Taffy also shared writing credits on Take Me Home, Country Roads and also I Guess He'd Rather Be In Colorado. Bill & Taffy went on to form The Starland Vocal Band. :)

GOS, although John Denver did record a version of "Leaving on a Jet Plane" with Cass Elliot, it was really made popular by Peter, Paul and Mary and is included on their Album 1700 available on SACD from Analogue productions. http://store.acousticsounds.com/d/94823/Peter_Paul__Mary-Album_1700-Hybrid_Stereo_SACD

Oops....hell yes. I knew that...I simply typed the wrong group. I have NO clue why I said Mama's and Papa's??? Good catch though...

The mixup is understandable when you consider that PP&M's 1967 hit "I Dig Rock and Roll Music" was a good-natured jab at the Mamas & Papas style.

As it was, "Jet Plane" became a #1 hit when it was released on 45 over two years after its initial album appearance on 1700. Denver, after years with the Mitchell Trio, finally got some real notice, and his solo career began to slowly take off thereafter.

I've always had a soft spot for The Love Boat Theme as originally sung by Jack Jones. But the reason I'm writing about here is that I've just found out that the lyrics were written by none other than Paul Williams. I did not know that the Great Swan himself, writer of the classics Upholstery and Goodbye, Eddie, Goodbye was also responsible for them catchy lyrics. :D

Love wont hurt anymore
Its an open smile on a friendly shore
Yes love...

In June '67, long before PPM had a hit with Leaving on a Jet Plane, I got a promo 45 of it by the Mitchell Trio:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rC8zts96j1I Jet Plane, written by Denver, was first recorded in 1966.

The group was formerly called The Chad Mitchell Trio. When Mitchell left, he was replaced by Denver, hence the removal of Chad from the name.

LOL! I must be desperate..I emailed ImportCD and asked if they would give me a price break on Badmotorfinger box. They said no. Doesn't hurt to ask.

I have some real soul searching to do. Today, we had to put a new furnace/air conditioner unit in our house. YIKES! That wasn't cheap....so....can I afford this rabid pace of purchasing surround sound music?

Somehow...someway...I must.
On the other hand, now I can control my heat/air settings with an app on my phone. :) Hee! I love gadgets....I could increase the temperature in my house from South America, as long as I have wifi.

Just sayin'

Gene, I hear you, thats the main reason why I am slowing down is these house repair surprises, our latest just yesterday, as we are getting ready to eat dinner my daughter says,"What are those wet spots in the kitchen ceiling". My wife immediately says three words that do not rhyme with buy more disk's,"Its time to renovate", Oh NO.....
Not sure how long it had been going on but had a slow leak from the supply line to a toilet above the kitchen was the culprit.
How much is a airconditioning/furnace combo cost out your way, I replaced my main heating source a boiler last year(12 grand) as we have in floor heating, thats what people want in homes in this part of the world, I like your heating/cooling combo better then what we have as we don't have air conditioning and with global warming air conditioning would come in handy in our summers as well.

Should we be so bold as to wager a guess who the inductees will be?

On another front, Bob Dylan has been awarded a Nobel Peace Prize in literature and they somehow cannot contact Dylan to bestow this 'prestigious' award on him. Is Dylan MIA or just NOT INTERESTED?

Listening to a little Cheap Trick - Heaven Tonight in Multi-Channel Stereo... :) Fake Surround if you will. Love it....

Do you like Hard Rock? If so, you may enjoy this. I admit enjoying many Japanese bands as I don't mind not understanding the lyrics and these chicks can hold their own like the best of them. They're about to release their third album. This track is from their first. They skip the whole blood thang and go for lipgloss and nail polish instead. :)

Man, that's too bad. How about this one?

Well I feel bad that our US members cannot see them Japanese Banzai Chick Rockers.

As a consolation prize, I give you a clip from my favourite TV show ever. It features a dude playing a mandolin, a Bossa Nova track and two ladies who've escaped from a mid-80's Robert Palmer video. They go shopping and one of them fails miserably to open a bottle of wine.

Listening now to Deep Purple, HFPA, stereo only, BD-A, 2.0 DTS-HD 24/96 at 72.5db, the new 2013 Mix/Master. Loud and no ear fatigue, that's all I ask for.
Made In Japan.
