Many of you know I'm a huge fan of the Moody Blues.
Well Moodies' bassist John Lodge has just started touring on his own recently, and he also recently released a live CD & DVD of his recent tour.

Ah, heck. I thought I might slip that one right by you. Guess not....

I have to admit that I misjudged a title....THE ROLLING STONES GRRR!...a blu ray audio...not a surround disc...but it contains 50 songs...I don't know if it was because my previous player was a pioneer elite...maybe the Oppo made a huge difference...I'm not sure...but today I was busy around the residence and decided I needed some background music...so I wiped the dust off the cover and listened while I worked...sounds pretty good....not surround...but FIFTY songs by the Stones...and then I decided to put one of my Rolling Stones SACD's in to compare...and GRRR sounded better....the only Stones disc that I have purchased that sounds better is Exile On Main Street...I have come to the conclusion that none of the Stones hi rez discs are reference...so this disc with tons of content is now in my rotation...I'm on song 22 right now..gimme shelter...I would classify these songs as better than their CD counterparts...no doubt...and to have all these hits on one disc is important to me...

Grrr! is an interesting title in that the older stuff is fairly dynamic (probably the same masters as the SACDs), however the newer stuff is quite compressed. Despite that, pretty tough to argue getting a 50 song "best of" on blu ray for 20 something bucks.

That's a fair assessment....it's a mixed bag of sound quality...but the sheer volume does compensate for a lot....but I've learned in the Stones catalog that sound quality is scarce...

Good luck finding a copy for $20 nowadays. It's one of my favorite releases to put on to demo stereo on my system though.

You are right about the cost....it's certainly more expensive now..

I think their Scorsese film, Shine A Light is a pretty damn good sounding disc.

I have several of their blu ray concerts...don't have that one...but Scorsese does good work...but I usually don't buy the documentary films..

I'd say, it's very good. I believe you might like it. The performances they show are visually very good and the audio is tops.
