Going through some old drives, I came across the following disc image.
It is a Toast Titanium DVD image of my demo disc from sometime around 2003.
If you can burn DVD's with Toast it is yours to enjoy, (or not).
I make no warranty as to how long this stays up or any other aspect of what you're downloading.
Just thought one or two of you might like it.

WOW! Thank you!!! :D

Happy New Year!

Great to see you here, hope all is going well for you?

Wish you were still doing surround music mixes..
some of my absolute favourites from that period have your name writ right thru them.

All the best :upthumb

For those that don't know, ThomC has done some excellent 5.1 mixes for both audio and video discs from the 2000's for major labels.

His resume includes titles by Billy Joel, Miles Davis and Aerosmith - among others.

Thom is the REAL DEAL!! :)

Thank You Mr. C very nice of you - Thank you for all your great sound work along the way toooo :snoodhug:

Thom, thankyou so much for this.
I downloaded it and then thought what do I do with a toast file and read you can use imgburn to make a dvd copy which I did and have checked out a few of the songs.
From the first few I listened to I was blown away by the very cool mix of Billy Joel-The Longest Time, love the doowoop vocals in the rears and just the overall feel to the song, nice work.
So is this the only way to get the Billy Joel songs on this collection here:

http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00005RT35?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

hope that the right one as I just ordered a copy as even though DD only was pretty impressed and I don't own this, the mix is very cool, too bad one can't get these in lossless, that would put this over the top.

Are all the songs on this sampler from true multitracks, including the last David Bowie live song?

Glad someone figured out what to do with it.

As to your questions, yes & yes.

HAHAHA, to making me the tech question answer guy, thats funny as I am always asking others from here how to get things converted to Dvda and some very generous people from this site have helped me out big time.

Thanks for you answers, look forward to going through the demo songs over next while.
Now I will be looking up some of the titles to see what these things are selling for as do like your surround mix's.

Was the David Bowie just a one off song surround mix you did or is it from a live surround album I could purchase?
David Bowie The Pretty Things are Going To Hell.

I did a whole thread on his mixes one time (what can I say, I'm "a fan" )... fwiw the Kelly Rowland SACD was a tough one to get like 10 years ago so god knows what it goes for now.. Good Luck! :upthumb

Some ThomC surround mixes...

Beyoncé - Dangerously In Love (SACD),
Destiny's Child - Survivor (SACD),
Destiny's Child - Destiny Fulfilled (DualDisc),
Vivian Green - A Love Story (SACD),
Kelly Rowland - Simply Deep (SACD),
Mary Mary - Incredible (SACD),
Backstreet Boys - Never Gone (DualDisc),
Jessica Simpson - In This Skin (DualDisc),
P!nk - I'm Not Dead (DualDisc),
Alicia Keys - Songs In A Minor (DVD-A),
Rod Stewart - Great American Songbook (DVD-A),
Luther Vandross - Dance With My Father (DVD-A).

Adam, thanks so much for putting those in there.
I was looking up the Luther Vandross and its going for around $100, didn't know Thom did the Rod Stewart as I did pick that one up about 6 months ago, would have preferred getting Rod Stewart from his prime instead of the crooner album but it is a good mix for sure.

Hoping Thom can reply about the David Bowie as that one really intrigues me,do you know where this is from or is it only on this sampler disk.
As we all know the David Bowie surround mixes are a mixed bag, some are very well done and some are terrible(Station to Station).

I think it was a "Storytellers" show. No idea on availability…

Let me just say that as a music lover it's a real treat to have someone of your caliber on the forum making posts...it's an honor that people like you and Steven Wilson take time out of your lives to come here...thank you and best wishes in the future:bounce17

You're welcome :) There's more ThomC surround mixes out there, that's just what I could remember on SACD/DVD-A/DualDisc off the top of my head.

The Rod Songbook one makes sense as that was a big seller (and one I'm not fussed about tbh as I hate hearing him murder those old standards.. but that's another thing!) ... but with you 100% most of all I'd love it if we had the 5.1 DVD-A of "A Night On The Town" (that Warner cancelled) and the Quad of "Atlantic Crossing" (that Warner cancelled... is there a pattern forming there? Nah.. the cancellations were like 25 years apart.. haha :D ).

I agree its not great but you can redeem it somewhat fwiw I had a go at redoing STS last year (if there was a way to share that stuff without risking beheading by the FBI or something I'd do it) but simple version is rip the DVD and get the 5.1 tracks into Audacity/ your DAW or whatever and..
1.) Lower Front L & R (to suit your taste & gear but I had to lower them a lot my end),
2.) Whack up the Centre (I raised it by quite some dB, there's quite a lot of unique goodies hidden away in there but in the remix the centre channel is stupidly low level, though no idea if thats mixing or mastering decisions),
3.) Tame some of the reverb in the rears (there's nothing really special going on back there sadly but the excess levels of cave-like reverb are part of what I feel wrecks the remixes.. there's some phase cancellation/invert trick in Audacity I used that helped to calm the reverb, I forget now exactly how I did it but have a play around its not hard, lets face it if I can do it anyone can!)

Oh ps. Peter, it did occur to me that it might be possible to try doing an upmix (spec or the surround master unit or something) on the Front L&R of the Maslin 5.1 of Station To Station and then using the synthesised rears of that upmix to replace the mostly reverb-only actual rears of the 5.1 as released... and that way to create faux rears with at least some instrumentation type things happening back there.. but I've never got around to it, I still might some day. I'm full of stupid ideas like that!

Was a great thread indeed!

I can vouch for P!nk - I'm not Dead (DualDisc) being an excellent mix!

Only available in DD though :( ( blasphemy! )

now we know Pete, you are the secret pc specialist of QQ ;)

using Windows, you can also extract the toast file and a Video TS and Audio TS folder will show up, with the tracks in the Video TS folder.
