Was a great thread indeed!

I can vouch for P!nk - I'm not Dead (DualDisc) being an excellent mix!

Only available in DD though :( ( blasphemy! )

Blasphe-me? Blasphe-you! :p

It still sounds pretty decent, despite the DD.. the mix I agree is a real winner (and that's coming from someone who hates Dullby Dirge-it-all.. it should never be used for anything ever, its a load of old shit and was old hat even when Sony were pedalling their own shit in the form of the dreaded DualDisc..!!)

now we know Pete, you are the secret pc specialist of QQ ;)

using Windows, you can also extract the toast file and a Video TS and Audio TS folder will show up, with the tracks in the Video TS folder.

Thats what I did.. scrabbled around in the folders, found the biggest file in the Video TS I could and let it playback in VLC.. Ta-Daa..!!
One showreel of surround SMUTHAFUDGINDOOOOOOOM....!! :D

Wow! Big thanks to Thom for sharing this here! I look forward to listening as I trudge through an afternoon of paperwork.

As others have already mentioned, this appears to be a normal .iso file - I was able to open/extract it with either WinRAR or 7-Zip in Windows.

Thanks again!

Could I just ask please, was the SRV 5.1 mix as a result of your personal decision to mix it that way or because its a sparse recording in the first place?

Both
If there was a musical way to do more, I might have been more aggressive, but if I remember correctly, (it was a long time ago), the tracks were pretty sparse.
So I think I tried to maximize the use of the actual room tracks recorded on the multitrack. Maybe a reason it didn't get released?

Thanks so much for responding :upthumb
I didn't want to be rude/cheeky asking you outright but tbh I was so curious as it didn't have any hallmarks of all your other surround work I have heard, which is much more active and inventive, well to my little lugholes anyway..

Thanks so much for the demo disc. It is certainly awesome.

Just wondering where the Shakira cam from? I don't remember he having a surround album. Anything coming up??

Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone used the calibration stuff on the disc.
Did it help?
Hurt?
What calibration stuff?...
etc

Hi Thom - Saw the calibration thingy, clicked on it but it not come up.......I can try it again this weekend to double check though

Thank You again :snoodhug:

also missed but anyway thank you Tom for your contribution into surround format.
hope more releases will come soon with your involvement in mixing them.
if you have opportunity, please lobby artists/producers, you work with, for lossless streams of 5.1 mixes.
you did great mixes but sadly so many of them was printed only in DD which in fact should be by default
dismissed from use in music production from very beginning.
