SACD titles released by Hong Kong Sony are generally made in the EU. In recent months, HK Sony started releasing single-layer SACDs and those are made in Japan.

Single Layer SACDs can be made on a DVD pressing line, while Hybrid SACDs require special presses that handle Hybrid SACD, DVD and CD.
So it's tempting for the record labels to issue Single Layer SACDs since the manufacturing cost is less and there are more places where they can be made.

Single layer could be an inexpensive way for AF to put out some quad-only SACDs.

Unfortunately, Quad only SACDs wouldn't sell enough copies for Audio Fidelity to make the licensing guarantee payments back.

actually one can compile and author on home PC single layer SACD. that's even easier than DVDA.
one just need to have Philips SuperAuthor and of course the player which can handle such SACDs.

Not knocking AF - at all, what they are doing is truly amazing - but its faintly ridiculous that a Korean label and another label in Hong Kong can produce SACDs but not one label in the UK or Europe can come up with the goods...

Well, the Hong Kong market has always been a popular one for SACDs. So their re-emergence there isn't a big surprise.
We certainly remember the Warner Music Hong Kong move to release SACDs vs. DVD Audio discs back in 2000. :)

As to Multichannel SACDs like Audio Fidelity, are the labels in Hong Kong and Korea releasing the local market artists from Korea and Hong Kong on Quad only SACDs?
I'm guessing that they are Stereo SACDs.

CRACKERJACK...!!!!

Its 4 o'clock, its Friday, its Crackerjack? (UK Kids TV in the early 70s) Yes you too could win a pencil from Leslie Crowther (who's daughter married Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy if my memory serves me well)
