Not to mention, rt, the DVD is going to be LOSSY DTS.....again!

One could only wish and hope down the road for a proper Rhino/Warner BD~A 5.1 boxset of Fleetwood Mac, probably one of their highest charting acts, in the same vein as the Chicago Quadio boxset.

I was hoping after the announcement of the Chicago box set that "Mirage" would be a Blu-Ray release instead of DVD like "Tusk", but this is a major label we're dealing with here, so I guess high quality and consistency is not something we can always expect from them… :violin

While I too wish we didn't have to buy these box sets because in reality I only listen to the 5.1. Yet, I am very pleased to own the Tusk set and it looks very cool on my shelf..so, I am OK with this box set too. The cool factor is just too good to pass up for me.

Just like I feel about this release, (and Tusk) !

Glad you like it GOS and Spock. I wish the labels would consider that they are losing sales from casual fans who would buy a simpler, less expensive 1CD/1DVD package. They could sell the "immersion sets" to the deep-dive fans. Oh, but now I've got this Hold Me earworm that I can't get rid of!

Even just separating out the vinyl from the CDs and DVD would be a smart move as it would significantly lower the price of the super deluxe edition while also letting the vinyl fans have their own copy without having to buy all of the other discs, but like I have said before, this is a major label we are dealing with, so logic is not always abundant… ;)

Good grief!
And just when I thought this box might be a little bit cheaper than "Tusk" without the additional CDs and vinyl, amazon's preorder goes live for a whopping $100!
Sometimes I really HATE the major labels…

Geez...well, I don't even remember what we paid for Tusk....short memory I guess. Well, I'm sure Amazon will have the highest price...so will be interesting to see who else offers this and for what price.

Let me refresh your memory about the Tusk purchase...after seeing a similar price on amazon US(around $99)amazon UK offered it for around $59($40.57pounds)and maybe history will repeat itself on this set...of course I'm in regardless of what the final price is..BUT..rest assured I will be looking at every price option..just check your amazon uk order list in your account to see what you paid...if you ordered it from amazon UK..

Yep, you are right. That is exactly what I paid for it...and where I ordered from. Wow! So Amazon US is asking $99 for Mirage? lmao! Surely someone will be cheaper.... but, I will be getting it too, regardless. But I want to pay the best price and will wait for you to do your magic searching...

Was excited about the news on this release, not so excited on this inflated boxset and inflated price, learned my lesson on Tusk, I do like that boxset but in Canadian prices after getting hit with a extra shipping tax from uk my final price came in close to $100(Canadian), thats to much in my books for getting a lossy dts disk which is all I am after. I would have never imagined that a record collecting habit started over forty years ago when I could put down $5 and get any new album for that price, that forty years later same album would cost $100,WOW thats quite the markup for same product.
I am most likely sitting it out and hope this price comes down, might take a few years, oh well.

This just in...

LOS ANGELES - Fleetwood Mac's streak of five consecutive multi-platinum albums began in the Seventies and continued in 1982 with Mirage, the follow-up to the band's 1979 double-album, Tusk. During the summer of 1982, Mirage topped the album chart and added to the band's already impressive canon of hits with "Hold Me," "Love In Store" and "Gypsy."

Following last year's deluxe edition of Tusk, Fleetwood Mac continues chronologically with the deluxe edition of MIRAGE. Available on July 29, this new edition expands on the original album with newly remastered sound, a selection of rare and unreleased recordings, as well as the stories and pictures behind the album. Three formats available:

- Deluxe : Three CDs, DVD and LP. Original album remastered, plus b-sides and rarities; the
original album on LP; live performances; and a 5.1 mix on DVD. $99.98.
- Expanded: Two CDs. Original album remastered, plus a disc of b-sides and rarities. $13.98.
- Remastered: Original album remastered. $11.98.
Digital version will also be available.

In 1982 Fleetwood Mac topped the U.S. Album Chart for five weeks with MIRAGE. Along with instantly recognizable smash hits like "Hold Me" and "Gypsy," MIRAGE also features great album tracks like "Oh Diane," a Top Ten hit in the UK, and "Straight Back," a Top 40 hit on the Billboard Rock Chart.

The new deluxe and expanded editions of MIRAGE both include a second disc that has 19 tracks dedicated entirely to outtakes and rarities. Among the unreleased gems are early versions of several album tracks - "Empire State" and "Book Of Love" - along with outtakes for songs that didn't make it to the album: "If You Were My Love" and "Smile At You." There is also an unreleased cover of the Fats Domino classic "Blue Monday," as well as the rare, extended mix for "Gypsy" that was used in the music video.

Along with early hits - "You Make Loving Fun" and "The Chain" - the collection includes performances of MIRAGE standouts like "Love In Store," "Eyes Of The World" and "Gypsy."

The DVD-Audio disc contains both the 5.1 Surround and 24/96 Stereo Audio mixes of the original album. The set also includes a vinyl copy of MIRAGE.

$72.97 is really not a bad price, even though I bought "Tusk" for a cheaper amount. (There's always time for price fluctuations, however!)
I want the Chicago set ASAP! However, I'm more than willing to wait a little while in order to get "Mirage" for the cheapest price. A lossy DVD-V disc deserves the cheapest price one can find, am I right? ;)
