Jon Anderson - Olias of Sunhillo (my #1 want in any genre!)
Kate Bush - Hounds of Love (more art pop than prog, but my #2 want)

J. D.

What about prog-pop-jazz? I think Harry Connick Jr.'s Star Turtle would make a cool surround offering.
It's the only jazz concept album I know of. It originally came as an enhanced CD with an animation of part of the story.
Pretty cool for it's time.

Great titles here - a few more that I'd love to see:

Ambrosia - Ambrosia
Ambrosia - Somewhere I've Never Traveled

PFM - anything they released (I'd type some of the titles, but they are all in Italian so I refer to them by the cover)

Lucifer's Friend - Lucifer's Friend
Lucifer's Friend - Where the Groupies Killed the Blues
Lucifer's Friend - Just a Rock 'n' Roll Singer
Lucifer's Friend - Banquet
Lucifer's Friend - Mind Exploding

Kansas - Leftoverture

Head East - Flat as a Pancake

Dixie Dregs - What If?

Uriah Heep - Demons and Wizards [ along with the other albums listed earlier in this thread ]

Great thread, but why the limited time frame?

That is pretty much prog's classic era. (y)

Oh dear... too many missing prog masterpieces that were constructed for surround but imprisoned in stereo.

Yes - Going For the One -1977 Awaken could set a new standard for 5.1 majesty & magnificence

Jon Anderson - Olias of Sunhillow - 1975 (This is what I mean by "constructed for surround but imprisoned in stereo".)

Chris Squire - Fish Out Of Water - 1975 (More orchestral layering genius that needs to be liberated into 5.1)

Steve Howe - The Steve Howe Album - 1979 (The breadth of Steve's virtuosity & diversity here is stunning and deeply satisfying)

Yes - Drama - 1980 A modern rock/orchestra record for a new age. As time passes, this record gets better. I am a camera, indeed.

Nektar - Recycled - 1975 Perhaps the most under-rated prog masterpiece of the prog age.

Renaissance - Live At Carnegie Hall - 1976. The 5.1 war against live music must end. This recording shows how talented Renaissance were and how they took music to a whole new level while still kicking serious ass.

Marillion - Marbles - 2004 This stands up with the best of the classics. A miracle of inspiration and performance.

Pink Floyd - Animals & The Wall. The truth has never been more self evident.

IQ - Dark Matter - 2004 Mind Blowing from start to finish. A modern classic

Spock's Beard - V - 2000. At the end of the day, this must be mixed into 5.1 by Steven Wilson.

Al Di Meola - Casino - 1978. Words can't describe this music. Beck's Blow By Blow on steroids with serious Latin passion and perhaps the best dueling of guitar and Fender Rhodes piano on record. Di Meola's true masterpiece needs to be liberated into 5.1 for sure.

Was that 5?

Totally agree. I should have added Fish Out Of Water when I originally posted the 2 Yes albums. Until then, FOOW sounds great with SpecWeb. :music

all of Kate Bush LPs up until "The Red Shoes" (Especially "The Dreaming")

I've tried to convince Larry Fast to release at least ERFRO and Cords in Surround, but he's right...no market for it...

At least we're getting the U.K. Live LP complete and in Surround!!!

I know members have said there's little chance of these, but I would still love Yes (1969) and Time And A Word (1970).

My query with these titles has always been this: if Steve Howe has really been the only member of Yes that has taken an active interest in the remixing process, then who would be the member from that earliest lineup that would take an active interest in having those first two albums remixed? I struggle to think of who that might be.
All of the other major catalogues that Steven has worked with thus far have had a member at the helm that's been through it all (Robert Fripp with King Crimson, Ian Anderson with Jethro Tull, Andy Partridge with XTC, Roland Orzabal with Tears for Fears, the Shulman Brothers with Gentle Giant, and apparently Phil Manzanera with Roxy Music). Yes no longer have that one lynchpin.

Oh shit.That reminds me of some;

Larry Fast-Sequencer or even his catalogue in it's entirety, also;

Peter Gabriel-(ENTIRE CATALOGUE).....long overdue !!:sun

i would love to see some of those old acts given new life in surround but i also acknowledging the chances are very slim,
next to zero. seems mainly the authors themselves, if they still active, doesn't care about, as for them it's already very
distant past and majority of them more consumed by new projects or by the fight with other members/cooperators of past
projects.

labels, who keeps publishing rights, already passed their golden age of super profits and now very careful in investing into
something, with doubtful outcome.
to be honest, at present the only chance and the way for surround to move forward is in relying on involvement of new,
latest generation of artists, who's in search of the ways to express themselves.

Damn, you English Gentleman have fine taste in music. :smokin

Sorry... I forgot to add the Alan Parsons and Kansas. And the two RUSH are as must-have as any.. (y)

I wonder why Kansas have never received any 5.1 attention? That is a serious omission.

I have mentioned Leftoverture as a no-brainer for multi channel. :)

We could only hope, that if for no other reason, maybe Jon Anderson would chime in (and maybe Steve even though he didn't play on them) in memory of both Chris Squire and Peter Banks. Hey, Steve's picture is on the front of Time And A Word!
Speaking of Peter Banks, The first album by Flash would be a good candidate! :music

It would make sense for Sony to put together a deluxe edition of "Leftoverture" this year for its 40th anniversary (and to coincide with Kansas' "Leftoverture" tour hitting US venues this Fall) but it may not happen due to the release of Kansas' new album, which is also out this Fall.
Bands don't really like competing against themselves with too many releases out at the same time, especially since I'm sure they want to do their best to sell as many copies of their new album as they can.
