The surround titles I keep going back to are the 3 Donald Fagen albums and the 2 "new" Steely Dan DVD-A's.

[Nightfly-Kamakiriad-Morph the Cat-Two Against Nature-Everything Must Go]

Not every tune is classic, but the surround mix and high resolution sound are just spectacular on these 5 discs, IMHO, and are pretty much the best example of DVD-A that is out there.

I also avoid playing my real favorites too much. I would listen to EW&F and then dig out an old conversion like Donny Hathaway or Al Green - Call Me, or that Jerry Reed reel to reel which is amazing if you like a country guitar virtuoso in quad demo quality.

There is not enough surround in my collection, I have to ration it a little.

Most recently:

Barclay James Harvest - Everyone is Everybody Else
Tony Banks - The Fugitive
Yes - Relayer
Yes - Close to the Edge
Allman Brothers Band - Idlewild South

This might go against the norm, but I don't consistently play any single title. (even though many are so much better than others in terms of the mix) I love LOTS of music, therefore, I play lots of different titles and many times change genre's daily.

I'm with GOS here..I do rotate the titles quite a bit...
Surround is a treat for me and my taste buds are finnicky...so I tend to not "overdose" on something...

IF ANYTHING....a homemade Quad recording-DTS CD- of a small motu in Tahiti (Tahaa, which was recorded in our Honeymoon in 2008) in which small waves splashed on all four corners...it's an hour long 44/16 recording...when it's chill out time...(I grew up on the beach)...

Don't know if the link will work..but it's this one...I pointed the recorder to the right , towards the wind, at noon and nobody went there and no boats nor planes interrupted it...

Hey Jon;

Agree with your analysis; 3 additional thoughts
My original "bootleg" copy of DSOTM, is still my go to demo disc
The reps from Goldmund, the super high end Hardware firm, flipped when they heard it
Never ceases to amaze me, the look on people's faces when they hear Money, & Us & Them
The DTS version of "Gaucho" may be better than the DVD/A; IMHO
Also, the Staples Singers singing "The Weight" on The Last Waltz, DVD/A, is surreal
In my Acura, it sounds like they're in the car

With the flood of new and new-to-me titles I'm acquiring I don't have a whole ton of time for repeats. That's what made compiling my list easy. If I've spun it 3 or more times I really loved it!

And here Baggy was hopin' you'd offer that puppy up on Swap Meet.

:(

Sorry, it's a keeper! Although I only play the first five songs. They cohere very nicely and seem of a piece. Then the rest of the album falls apart, and I eject the disc.

I like the back 1/2, but agree it loses cohesion. Barry Williams is fun and Signal to Noise is so bizarre that I admire it for the experimentation.

LOL, I think the OP was looking for 5 discs rather than 5 pages! :yikes

Not only that, I like how some of the individual lines contain multiple albums. :spot

Adam, your rotation container must be the size of a suitcase.

Haha.. :p Whoopsydaisy! :yikes You know me, not one to do things by halves!

Oh the discs are mostly sitting there gathering dust (like all the unreleased Quads and 5.1's..! BAH!) most of the Surround stuff's on the computermabob now, the soundtrack to one's life and its almost all in 4 or more channels these days.. hooray!
