This is going to be a somewhat long and complicated thread. My intent is to define the titles I want and how I come to it.
I also would like your input too. This is for "Domestic Releases Only". Overseas releases, which I have a few of, are not part of this effort, maybe later.

Here is a link to the list of releases that I have found so far to be the most reliable: http://www.blamld.com/LaserDisc/dts_CD_Releases.htm.

The attached PDF file "My DTS CDs.compressed" is that list in which I decided to take stock of what I had. I added to the list know titles that were not on the list.
This all leads up to the most time consuming upgrade that I am doing: Compile a color coordinated spreadsheet of my music inventory and to update "Music Collector" with multi-channel specific entries.
Attached is a Jpeg screen shot of the spreadsheet I am working on. Any input would be welcome.

Now, here is what I am after:

Bach, Classics
Tchaikovsky, Swan Lake
Winter Reflections: The Four Seasons of Love

The 3 above titles can be easily found as re-released DTS DVDs, but I just can't find the DTS CD versions. I wounder if the releases were strubbed and went directly to DVDs.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Diatonis, The Convolving Universe
Diatonis, Invisible Order

Interesting story on the Invisible Order. I found on Ebay this title, ordered it and when it came in I noticed that the DTS text and logos were blacked out and the disc was a CD-R with just a Stereo recording. This was sent back faster than a Shark Tornado with a very strong letter to all partys about fraud. I go my money back.

------------------------------------------------------------

Eagles, Hell Freezes Over, Mistake pressing July 7, 1997

It is known that the "Unfinished Mix" from the Laserdisc made it's way to early DTS CD pressings. The DTS Laserdisc folks have ID codes to determine which Laserdiscs are correct, but I can't find how to identify the correct DTS CDs. I have the Large Case version so I suspect what I have is the corrected version.

------------------------------------------------------------

David Miles Huber, Parallax Eden

I am surprised that I have not been able to get this title. They re-released it as a immersive audio Blu-ray, but even the boys at 51bpm have not come up with a DTS CD copy.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Bijoy Thangaraj, Friday Night
Kenwood's Custom DTS Compilation Demo

-----------------------------------------------------------

The following 10 titles from Surround Records:

Borodin, Polovtsian Dances
Mussorgsky, Pictures at an Exhibtion
Ravel, Bolero
Rimsky-Korsakov, Russion Easter Overture
Sixth Sense
Solaris
Space or Dream of Life
Spatial Dynamics
Stravinsky, Firebird Suite
Weber, Overtures

Looking forward to your inputs.

Ha, ha, ha !

Shark Tornado.

Yea, well I agree . Some of these discs are indeed getting rare nowadays . As rare as hen's teeth I think, for some.

For that last pile from Surround Studios, have you tried contacting the artist directly? I believe he's out of Detroit.

Thanks for the tip. A while back I did the Google search on Surround Studios and came up empty. I will now try again refining my search to Detroit.

David Miles Huber, Parallax Eden - I have this one, it is a CD-R, it has a note in pencil on the cover that says 023/025, possibly indicating only 25 made?

Diatonis is a member here (not visited since last April however might be worth a try dropping them a PM?)

https://www.quadraphonicquad.com/forums/member.php?1905-diatonis

Never seen Winter Reflections DTS CD, I've been looking around 3-4 years (like really looking..) got the other 3 in that series... don't play em ever but thats no slight on them just you know how it goes too many things not enough time etc..

Bach Classics DVD-A only iirc.. was it listed as being DTS CD first?

is Swan Lake part of the same series as the Grieg, Debussy etc EMI stuff that Robert Margouleff did the Quads for DTS?

the Friday night one and all the 'surround records' never even heard of that lot (so at least I learned something even if I was of no help to you jwb.. sorry.. but I will keep my ear to the ground for you now I'm aware of these titles! )

edit: the Swan Lake is an LSO newer thing right?

Lots of things to look into. Thanks

The Diatonis discs are great and I recommend them. I have tried to reach out to him personally and have never received a response, so if he (you) read this please send me a PM.

Thanks for the direct links Fourplay. I'm a huge fan of the Diatonis surround works and recommend them highly to anyone who appreciates ambient music. For morning or afternoon peaceful sound immersion I'd recommend the Ambient Life series, Highway 1 or Perception as good places to start. Some of his later works drift to the darker side of the ambient universe and are excellent as well. If you can track down the (oop) original DVD Audio (or DVD Audio/ DVD Video) discs there's some of Stuart's beautiful photography or video included too. As an ambient artist myself (dreamSTATE) I can state that I look up to the impeccable composition and production of the Diatonis surround music catalogue. He may be reclusive but his soundworlds are wide open for exploration.

I have both the super jewel box and the slipcover cd case version.

How can I tell which version has the "Unfinished Mix" and what exactly does the "Unfinished Mix" sound like in comparison to the "finished mix"?

I wish I could provide an answer. The Laserdisc I have is the "corrected version" so I have no way to know what the original version was like. I don't even know if it was an audio or video problem or it may have been something in the artwork or text in the packaging of the discs. Have you looked at the discs themselves to see if there is any different numbers or markings on the areas near the center. Can you see any difference in the text on the liner notes. Did you hear any difference?

Certainly interesting.

Just got these titles in. Thanks to vinlyguy4's tip, I got Parallax Eden and a couple of other discs. Got "Opeth: Still Life" which is a title that I wouldn't normally have bought, but is interesting. Also got a 2nd copy o f"Porcupine Tree: Lightbulb Sun". Another title I got at the same time was "Rabindrsangeet: Instrumental" This DTS-CD was completely under my radar. None of the release lists that I go to had this title listed, it was a surprise. It was released by the Basss label that also released a DTS-CD of " Nepal Shaw: Folk Songs, The Instrumental Version"

You will notice that the "Rabindrsangeet: Instrumental" Case was craked which leads to the other picture of the Lift Lock CD Jewel cases. These are going for a fortune on Ebay. Music Direct found some old stock that they had. I immediately bought 25 cases. They were sold as a lot of 5ea for a rounded up amount of $10.00. If you want some of these cases, go over to their web store and get some. The quantity are limited. In fact I may get another batch while the getting is good.

I will soon be offering the Lightbulb Sun disc as a freebee as I have done before with 2nd's titles that I got.
