For me, this disc is right up there with the best 5.1 surround releases of last year ("Skylarking", "Tales of Mystery and Imagination", "Tales from Topographic Oceans", etc.)

It's my kind of music, it's my kind of surround mix (discrete but always fitting the music like a glove), and the fidelity is off the charts!

Everyone owes it to themselves, their fellow QQ members, and (especially) Neil Wilkes to buy this disc!
It's very well-priced, and there's almost an hour of amazing surround music to continuously enjoy and delve into for years to come!
I wish I could write a more detailed review, but time is short for me these days, so once again, I'll just say, BUY THIS!

I will be buying this one for sure! I have a near mint vinyl copy that I listen to once in a while. It'd be great to hear this in surround, as I never expected this would get such treatment.
Now if you could do "Earth, Sun, Moon" next, it'd be even greater as it's one of my all-time favorite albums!

Hopefully Beggars Banquet will go for more.
I've been a collector of The Cult for decades. Would absolutely love to hear some Love era 5.1 mixes (especially all those delicious b-sides).

edit: Have you heard Gary Numan's 2013 release, Splinter? Holy crap that album is astonishing.

When I first heard that Neil Wilkes was going to tackle this L&R's in surround my excitement meter went up a few notches as we all know here Neil understands surround and neither Neil or L&R's disappoint on this wonderful Bluray release.
This is now one of my go to disk's to listen to as the songs sound as fresh now as they did back in the 80's as its very discreet and very dynamic.
What I like that Neil has done is he gives each song its own space in surround and does not use the same framework for each song.
An example is title song, he puts vocals as well as the bass guitar into the center channel, for this song it totally works as the bass is played every few seconds with a very hypnotic beat and it's cool that it gets center stage with vocals. There are many more clever placing of instruments throughout this album in surround and is just a joy to listen to.
That there are 3 bonus songs on this release in surround is just icing on the cake.
This one gets a well deserved 10 score as it deserves to be up there with the best.

Not knowing much about Love & Rockets I took a chance on this disc based solely on the positive reviews here at QQ.

Wow what a pleasant surprise, great music and congratulations to everyone involved with this release, really outstanding surround mix!

9.5 for me, rounded up to a ten.

Nowadays, with utube, it's easy, since you can listen to practically anything and make sure you'll like it or not...

But if it's a well known fact that Neil W brought it back from the 80's and he himself did the MCH, then it's a no brainer...anything that's good enough for Wilkes (BTW, a class act himself!), is good enough for me!

I had never heard a Love And Rockets (or Bauhaus) album before this, and after listening to this album on Youtube, I almost didn't purchase it (while some kids in high school were listening to this, I was listening to Iron Maiden!). Anyway, I bought it because, well, why not? I'm so glad I did... the sonics are wonderful (especially for an eighties album); the mix is enveloping and discrete, opening the soundfield and letting the instruments breath... what sounded dense and (shrill?) on Youtube becomes rich and spacious with this mix; finally, the music is really enjoyable, for the most part (the only 2 songs I'm not that into are the title track and "Ball Of Confusion")... layers of acoustic/electric guitars, vocal harmonies, electronic stuff, and percussion that really swirl together in a sort of "sixties psychedelic brew" (reminds me a little of a more modern version of The Moody Blues on some tracks). Standout tracks for me (and worth the purchase price alone) are "A Private Future" and "Saudade". 9.
"One Quad to rule them all, One Quad to find them; One Quad to bring them all and in the darkness bind them."
"The Quad is what gives a Sound System its power. It's a sound field created by four pulsing speakers that surrounds us and penetrates us."

You know, I did give it a halfhearted listen on youtube, played through a crappy soundcard with crappy computer speakers. I almost didn't buy it based on that listen.

Listening to the album properly raised the enjoyment factor 215%.

    10. A big compliment to Mr.Wilkes and everyone involved. Wanted to give a 9 first because the music is not entirely to my taste but it sounds too good for that and I think this will grow on me.

Mine just arrived and I just gave it a first listen. I was completely unfamiliar with the album (or the band for that matter) so I need to listen a few more times but I'll offer a few random thoughts. Even after just one listen I can say that unless you have a dislike for the music it's an essential purchase. The bonus-track cover-version of Pink Floyd's "Lucifer Sam" is very nice and also very appropriate as I hear a very strong Syd Barrett influence (sometimes by way of Robyn Hitchcock) on this band. Interesting combination of 80's synths and acoustic guitars. The mix isn't crazy-aggressive with the use of the rears but it's very pleasing. Bravo to Mr. Wilkes for a job well done! Hopefully this and the Pixies title sell enough copies to convince the folks at Beggar's Banquet to release more titles. Would love for them to give Gary Numan's Replicas this treatment or maybe something from the Go-Betweens. BB also distributes Matador.....would love to get some Yo La Tengo, Thurston Moore, New Pornographers or Tommy Keene.

If you don't have it yet, it's in stock at all the usual places:

    Import CDs: $17.35
    Amazon USA: $19.39
    Bull Moose: $19.97
    Deep Discount: $20.18
Amazon UK: 16.99 (approx. $21.31 USD)
