hello freinds, im interested, and starting out in quadraphonic, specifically q8 tapes.
I've decided on a 8056 for my tape playback, its of course 2ch,
I've come to know if using a 4ch decoder/synthesizer for discrete pb
I maybe able to stll achieve the quadraphonic music.
Can someone attest to it.
Id like as well to start making backups of q8 tapes. Ire
For this procedure I felt an quadraphonic r2r would suffice...
Maybe a fosrex r8, or an akai unit. What I wanted to ask you is
The r2r can in record on program 1&2...

You can't "fold" a quad 8-track into stereo by playing it on a stereo player, you can only play the front tracks or the rear tracks as a selection. You're even more limited in playing a quad reel on a stereo unit, you will hear only the front tracks playing "side one" (sic), or the rear tracks playing "side two" (sic).
 
The discrete 4ch decoder I felt would break up the channels for front & rear playback. A sansui qs7000.
Standard stereo 8 tapes so far.

Hi. Snake

I`m afraid you will need a 4channel Q8 player as well with a R2R player to record the Quad file and the only way is to have a computer & a device that will allow you to record a 4 channel input there is a view devices available one is a Motu external box which comes with drivers and soft ware to record with the newer model use USB this older model uses fire wire, on QQ there is more detail about this..
