No reviews of this disc? And only two votes?
I will admit that after previewing the music on iTunes, it doesn't do much for me.
However, I would love to hear the "Chinatown" theme in Quadraphonic surround sound.
I'm sure it sounds absolutely beautiful.

Obviously, a clear indicator that QQers are really NOT into Easy Listening. The Percy Faith album, while pleasant enough and certainly well recorded and mastered with a wonderful discrete mix does not appeal to 99% of QQ's fan base.

I listened to it [strictly as background music] and will vote a 7. And honestly, I purchased this and ALL other D~V titles hopefully to bolster their decision to release some more 'adventurous' fare in QUAD.

The theme from Chinatown, composed by Hollywood legend Jerry Goldsmith, IS gorgeous and Faith does it justice.

BTW, if you like Goldsmith's music, here are several multichannel SACD titles composed by Jerry: https://www.hraudio.net/search.php?format=0&keywords=Jerry+Goldsmith

This one in particular is excellent and still priced well: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00005LAN6/?tag=hraudio-20

This was the most disappointing disc from my initial order from Dutton Vocalion. I guess the mix and fidelity is ok, but I’m not a big fan of the content.

Percy Faith was a brilliant arranger and recorded some great instrumental albums. The addition of singers in the late 1960s were a distraction. The focus of the Romeo & Juliet album is on the female chorus and they mixed dead center on the stereo mix, front center on the quad mix. It would be a more enjoyable album without the chorus.

In my opinion, Chinatown is the better album. Unfortunately, Faith’s 1970s albums were a bit of a mixed bag and the album has not held up as well as his earlier works.

I give this one a 7, but I feel I’m being generous.
