I recently ordered this classic guitar trio recording on SACD from Amazon. Read a few reviews which are all very positive. Wondering if any QQ members have this disc and can share their thoughts on the audio quality while await its arrival?

I don't have the SACD, but love the LP. Here are a couple of reviews:

An absolutely brilliant single layered Japanese SACD. The opening cut, Mediterranean Sundance/Rio Ancho alone is worth the price of admission and the great Mark Wilder mastered it for SACD.

Also, a great recording to ensure that your front l/r speakers are properly imaged as the three guitarists are distinctly heard left, 'phantom' center and right.

BTW, the AmazonUS price is quite good as the original Japanese SACD is OOP https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XOI3H5K/?tag=sacdinfocom-20

Or, you can purchase it from Acoustic Sounds as well: http://store.acousticsounds.com/d/1...day_Night_In_San_Francisco-Hybrid_Stereo_SACD

I have it on Stereo DSD Download from Acoustic Sounds ($24.98)
DSD file created by Gus Skinas from the original Sony Super Audio CD cutting masters.

It's an excellent concert performance by top guitarists. Worth a purchase.

Neither of the listings you linked were for a single-layer; both are hybrids (presumably the same release).

The US releases of those two albums were Single Layer SACDs.
Since the catalog numbers of the new HK editions match the US catalog numbers, they could be a reissue of the U.S. Single Layer SACDs.

I received my SACD version from Amazon.ca last week. The reviews are correct, the SACD is fantastic. The recording and mix is just about perfect. I have a pristine vinyl version and the SACD tops it.

Single-layer SACD reissue by Hong Kong Sony Music....coming in 2 days. EU pressing.

Hi soundboy, I checked out your SACD collection. Wow, very impressive. I'm nowhere near that amount of SACD/multichannel discs yet. Would love to see your room and how you store all that amazing media.

My playback system is very pedestrian when compared to most of the forum members'. I don't have a photo of my system but I can tell you the total price of the entire system is under $1K, although I'm tempted to break that barrier. Below is a photo of my storage system at my last home, based on Ikea's Gnedby CD rack. I have moved and those Gnedby CD racks have followed me, except I have increased capacity by an additional 50%.

This is really a missed opportunity for a 3.0 release! Isn't a real center better than a phantom one?

Currently, there are 2 versions of this album on SACD in print....the single-layer stereo SACD and the hybrid SACD. Both versions of the SACD were released by Hong Kong Sony Music and pressed in Austria. Today, in the SACD Group on Facebook, Michael Bishop (formerly of Telarc) mentioned the HK Sony SACD versions were remastered by Five/Four Productions, an audio engineering company formed by former members of the Telarc recording team.
