WOW! I didn't know Trouble did a cover of that. Was it on any of their albums? I have a vinyl of Trouble from back in the 80's.....can't remember the name. I think they are a Chicago band...always liked that dude's voice....very different.

Hailing from Windy City, that's right. It's from the 1995's Plastic Green Head, loved it back in the day. The other cover Porpoise Song is even better.
Always entertained by the stories how Metallica went for Mesa/Boogie amps after hearing Trouble's sound (and copying their settings, too). ;)

Here's another interesting one

album wise Booker T and the MG's Mclemore Avenue

Intersting takes would go to :
Across the Universe by Laibach (Eastern European say no more)
Norwegian Wood by The Hourglass (Those Allman Brothers knew a good song to cover)
Hey Jude - Wilson Picket (Duane Allman Again !!)
Hey Bulldog - The Gods (I think i have it on a Psych album somewhere they morphed into Uriah Heap !)

So many great choices!

Joe Cocker leaning out the bathroom window is tempting...but, I narrowed it down to a few others.

None of my three choices are songs that were released by the Beatles themselves in their day. The first two are Beatles songs that the Beatles gave away.

1- A World Without Love - Peter & Gordon
2- Come and Get It - Badfinger

3- Texas Motel Beatles medley w/FZ lyrics:- Frank Zappa
Norwegian Wood/Lucy in the Sky/Strawberry Fields
Live in Cleveland March 5, 1988

thank you all for chiming in!!!!!

well, the covers that are practically the same are not really my favorites (you all also forgot Cheap Trick's cover of MMT on their Greatest Hits!...also Living Colour's version of Tomorrow Never Knows!)...

of all of these , I think that Joe Cocker's Woodstock rendition is a close second....

P.M. Dawn's cover is fresh sounding, and far away enough to not be a "copy"....

Keep 'em coming!!!!

I'd forgotten about Badfinger, and they were on Apple Records, I've one of their early albums on CD. A sad story of what happened to the band.

A stunning version of "The Long & Winding Road" performed by George Michael at a memorial concert for Linda McCartney. Sir Paul was in attendance.

Oh....and you can tell they must've had a huge budget for making this video. Adrian Belew's version of "I'm Down".

Great thread Kap, thank you

had a blast listening to/watching all of the nominees most of which I had never heard before, too much fun. my votes;

1) Pm Dawn
2) George michael
3) Nickel Creek
with an honorable mention to Fever Tree

Ladies and gentlemen,

Please hold your votes until you have viewed the following video. Be advised that the clip segues into two of their own compositions, but you cannot go wrog letting that play through. But you gotta check out Nickel Creek performing "Taxman."

I can't find a youtube link or a video link but IMO my favorite Video only cover (no sound) (maybe because the blu-ray is kinda rare) is a short scene in Metallica's Through the Never when Kirk's guitar is slowly bleeding into a pool of blood on the ground and Kirk looks at the tech like WTF?

IMO this is a silent homage to "While my guitar gently weeps"

Could be - or it could also be homage to their debut album that had the pool of blood on the cover. I dunno... :)
