What about
John Farnham HELP

Tina Turner heard it when she was here
And recorded it when she returned to the USA.

My sister bought several of Nimoy's Dot Lp's, all of which were awful. As for myself, found a cutout of THE TRANSFORMED MAN in '72 for a buck in a record store. Hard to tell if it was intentionally or unintentionally hilarious, with "Lucy" being but one of the Lp's many travesties.

I just remembered this one from Jose Feliciano..
I think it's neat because he only has his guitar playing for backing...whereas the beatles recorded an orchestra , and overdubbed it.

Jose did good with that one, and I think he covered a few others, too; fit his style well.

John Denver recorded several Beatles songs while with RCA; did okay with 'em, and he sure could have done much worse. I still think he's an underrated fellow even while understanding why some listeners couldn't stand him.

ED :)

I was aware of this one from when it came out (and promptly forgotten about it) but since I am getting quite a bit into Fiona Apple (especially "Extraordinary Machine"), I rediscovered her cover of "Across the Universe" from "Pleasantville"...
Even though it's VERY close to the original, it IS ...SUBLIIIIME!!!!!! and Fiona does SUCH A GREAT JOB!!!!!

Agreed! Fantastic version - and also I think one of the best music videos ever made (Paul Thomas Anderson). Very very clever. Good cameo by John C Reilly too.
(off topic: Here's that song "I Know" with Jim Keltner on drums: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wB09p4MF7gw )

True, a short movie...not a video....and yes, I love John C's cameo at the end.....

Joe Cocker has some excellent Beatles covers. I havehis box set, long voyage home, so not sure which cds they are on but if you can find a copy of long voyage home it is excellent.
