I had just finished listening to the first three tracks on this album concluding, appropriately, as it turned out with “Bungle”. I was rather enjoying this different take on a number of the Tull classics when I was given a bit of a shock with the fourth track, “Ring out those Bells”. This is a rather distinctive track and yet, although familiar, it sounded nothing like the original—quite a jarring sensation and rather disconcerting. Things continued in much the same vein for the rest of the album leaving me quite unsatisfied with things.

However, on closer listening combined with a bit of detective works, I determined that seven of the songs starting with the aforementioned “Ring out those Bells” were indeed not the songs listed in the running order on the back of the album case. Incidentally, for those who have ripped the album or who intend to rip it, it rips in the correct sequence. The Proper listing is as follows:

Jethro Tull Quartets Proper Running Order

(01) In The Past (Living In The Past)
(02) Sossity Waiting (Sossity, You’re A Woman/Reasons For Waiting)
(03) Bungle (Bungle In The Jungle)
(04) We Used To Bach (We Used To Know/Bach Prelude C Major)
(05) Farm, The Fourway (Farm On The Freeway)
(06) Songs And Horses (Songs From The Wood/Heavy Horses)
(07) Only The Giving (Wond’ring Aloud)
(08) Loco (Locomotive Breath)
(09) Pass The Bottle (A Christmas Song)
(10) Velvet Gold (Velvet Green)
(11) Ring Out These Bells (Ring Out, Solstice Bells)
(12) Aquafugue (Aqualung)

Has anyone else run across this or am I the only one who happens to have received a defective album cover (album is BMG 538257472 plus an additional “ / 075597939019” on the barcode)? Not particularly impressive quality control.

By the way, the album is a worthy effort once you get over the shock of the incorrect running order. Probably the most disappointing thing about it is most of Ian’s vocals, which fortunately are relatively infrequent.

Hi everyone

I hope you're all well. We are now in the final few weeks before the release of The String Quartets !

A note just to let you know... Since the CDs went to print, we decided to make a slight adjustment to the track listing printed on the artwork (striving for perfection!). As a result, you'll now be receiving an additional sticker for the back of your CD with the new track-listing printed.

Thank you for supporting the new project, and I very much look forward to you all hearing it very soon!

Best,
Ian

Thanks for this; obviously, I didn't get the sticker. I would hardly call the change to the track listing "a slight adjustment".
