Interestingly enough the "Mahler " is taken from a stereo source .

Jon,

You don't have a better pic (close up) of that Leonard Cohen disc, do you ?? Looks very interesting . :smokin

No. Sorry. This is all I have, a jpg captured from an eBay auction I did not win. Don't know if it's legit or fake. Not really sure if anyone's ever heard it at all. Looks pretty, but again, the label is blank so it could be anything from Ray Conniff to The Raiders.

Also, is the japan pretzel logic any better/different than the us one ?

With the exception of a Probe sampler, which was japanese-only, all quad ABC stuff released in Japan used USA stampers, so the quality of the encode is the same.

I suppose it's possible , if they got a hold of the UD-4 metal stamper ?

Looks like a Chinese pressing, btw.

Many years ago i've linked here an outside article that clarified how Taiwan/HK/China was able to do CD4 pressings.
In short, they didn't get any metal stamper from Japan, they bought two copies of a specific title and used one copy as a mother for side a and the other for side b. Of course they didn't do that only for cd4 stuff... it was the ordinary way to press a title, re-plate a brand new record instead of cutting a mother.
Clever....

i own this one too. Its in EV-4 ..I always liked their logo "stereo visual sound, puts an eye in your ear " !

I came across an article from 71? that said Crewe was going to issue 45's in quad as well . I was thinking perhaps the theme to Barberella .

Although quad I never really enjoyed this disc much, but it is unique .

Like that Shure M24H avatar . :smokin
