    Default Digitized 78s online

Most of you know of the "Internet Archive" website...
Here is its digitized 78 rpm "Philly" section.
Mind you, all of these have been recorded with 4 different stylii because there was no "standard" regarding the grooves (which I didn't know), and they offer flat and EQ'd versions...

Was listening to "Gloria" (in Spanish) released a year before Van Morrison's version was released..
    Enjoy!

Yeah, I knew about this - but still makes me smile that this is being done. I firmly believe it's very important to archive as much of this material as possible before the inevitable happens.

At one point I was attempting to collect all the number one records from 1890 to date. What I discovered is that Billy Murray had more number one records than Elvis and the Beatles combined and no one today knows who he is. He has a lot of his stuff online.

This is exactly the kind of promiscuity I love! It looks like they're just preserving everything without worrying about subjective quality. If that sounds like sarcasm, it's not. My beloved 78 collection is a random assortment of Important Stuff and glorious crap.

While I really appreciate the multiple styli and EQ options, it's not clear to me that they've devoted as much effort to speed, which in the pre-electrical days was not really standardized.

And while I find the 24/96 files crazy for daily playback, they're excellent for those with the time and desire to play with ClickRepair.
