this is my first week of all greatest hits. The first two hours were
easy - straight commercial SQ album play. Hour three was a
challenge - Columbia, in case any one wasn't already aware,
well, kind-a sucked. When they put out Blood Sweat & Tears
Greatest hits - they used the versions that were on the
45s - which, to be fair, were the AM radio "Hit" Versions. -
But - when they released the albums from which these songs
were culled - they also used the "hit" versions - same with
the Q8s. My goal was to play the full versions, at least of
my personal favorites. Spinning Wheel I had to go back to the
stems and remix it from scratch - And When I Die came to me
from another collector (thanks Jonathan) - It was a complete
4 channel mix - and the cream of the crop - Brenda Holloway's
You've Made Me So Very Happy.
There was an odd organ bridge - cut from he Hit version - well
again, thanks Jonathan, not only did I get the version with
that bridge, but the original intro that Columbia cut before
the song was ever released (that organ bridge makes more sense
with that intro).
Normally when I remix tracks for matrix quad broadcast, I
go with QS - but, since everything else is SQ, I went with
the flow. I even added a bonus hit at the end - one of my
first SQ remixes; Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody. Remember it's
